Animal Welfare Awareness and Education
We believe knowledge is the most powerful tool for animal welfare. Learn the essentials of street animal care, from critical puppy vaccinations to our step-by-step rescue reporting process.
Our veterinarian explains why vaccinating street puppies is so important. Unvaccinated pups are extremely vulnerable to deadly viruses like Parvo and Distemper. Be kind, be smart, vaccinate.
Here is a step-by-step guide on how to report a rescue to CARE. Following this process helps us respond efficiently and ensures the animal gets the help it needs as quickly as possible.
About this collection
When you find an injured animal, your first instinct is to help, but how you report the case makes a real difference. We ask that you remain on-site to coordinate the pickup when our ambulance arrives. This simple step helps us catch the animal efficiently, saves our team valuable time, and allows us to respond to the next emergency in the city much faster.
Why Vaccination Matters
Street puppies face two major threats that are often fatal: Canine Distemper and Parvo virus. Both are highly contagious. We see too many healthy, unvaccinated puppies brought into the shelter, where they are immediately at risk of catching these viruses from other animals. Timely vaccination is their best survival strategy. If you are caring for a street puppy, please prioritize getting them at least two doses of a combined vaccine before considering moving them to a new environment.
How to Report a Rescue
We know it is stressful to see an animal in pain. Please understand that while we want to say yes to every call, our trauma unit is often at capacity. When you call us, our team will guide you based on our current availability.
To ensure we can help effectively:
- Stay Present: Be ready to coordinate with our ambulance team at the location.
- Follow Directions: Our helpline assistants are trained to give you the best possible guidance, even if it is not a direct rescue dispatch.
- Be Patient with Updates: Our veterinary team is fully occupied with surgeries and treatments during the day. We revert to callers with status updates between 4 PM and 5 PM. If you do not hear from us in that window, please email us with your case details, and we will ensure you get an update the following day.
We are here to save lives, and by working together, we can provide the best care for Bangalore's street animals.
