Workshops and Training for Animal Rescue
Compassion is best when it is backed by skill. Join our hands-on workshops in Yelahanka to learn practical rescue, rehabilitation, and behavioral techniques for street animals.
A preview of our hands-on workshop, "From Rescue to Home," with UK-based canine behaviourist Kirsten Dillon. This free, invite-only event provided practical insights into fostering and training systems focused on building confidence in rescued dogs.
The theory session in progress. Participants at our workshop with Kirsten Dillon learn about the nuances of dog behavior in a comfortable, interactive setting. These educational events are designed for rescuers, foster parents, and trainers.
A different angle of our dog behavior workshop, showing the engaged audience. We believe in continuing education to better understand and communicate with the animals in our care, helping them on their journey to a forever home.
A live demonstration during the "From Rescue to Home" workshop. Here, participants observe gentle techniques for interacting with a young pup, learning how to build trust and assess behavior in a shelter environment.
Another view of the practical session with Kirsten Dillon. Observers watch as a volunteer gently approaches a shelter puppy, learning firsthand about positive reinforcement and confidence-building exercises for rescued animals.
Expert in action. Kirsten Dillon demonstrates a gentle approach with a shelter pup as workshop attendees look on. These hands-on learning experiences provide invaluable skills for anyone involved in animal rescue and rehabilitation.
We are proud to run our Animal Caretaker Training Program, supported by the Murty Trust. This video shows a glimpse of the hands-on training where we equip individuals with essential skills in shelter medicine and animal handling.
About this collection
We do not just rescue; we teach. Our workshops—whether it is learning canine behavior with experts like Kirsten Dillon or getting certified in shelter medicine with the Murty Trust program—are designed to make you a more effective advocate for street animals. If you have ever wanted to do more than just feed a dog, these sessions provide the technical tools and confidence you need to handle complex rescue situations safely and ethically.
Why We Train
Compassion is vital, but in animal welfare, skill is equally important. We have seen how a lack of proper handling technique or medical awareness can lead to burnout or accidents. That is why we moved beyond just sheltering to building an ecosystem of trained rescuers.
What You Will Learn
Our training programs are held right here at our Yelahanka facility. We host sessions on canine behavior, helping you understand body language to prevent bite incidents and build trust with shy, traumatized rescues. You can also join our Animal Caretaker Training Program, which covers essential shelter medicine, handling, and vaccination protocols. These are critical skills if you are volunteering, fostering, or running your own rescue initiative.
The Reality of Shelter Life
When you attend a session, you are not just sitting in a classroom. You are seeing the reality of our work. You will learn how we manage overcrowding, how we use vaccinations to prevent outbreaks of Canine Distemper and Parvo, and how we rehabilitate injured streeties.
Whether you are a student looking to learn about biology, a CSR team wanting to give back, or an individual rescuer seeking formal training, there is a program for you. Come ready to learn, and leave with the ability to turn your empathy into action.
Charlie's Animal Rescue Centre
We are CARE. We have learned that the hardest part of rescue is not just the work itself, but knowing how to do it safely for both the animal and you. We built these workshops to pass on that knowledge, so you can walk into any rescue situation with the confidence to actually help.
