Patriotic and Historical Rangoli Art in Karnataka
I create large-scale portraits of national heroes and freedom fighters using traditional rangoli powders to bring history to life at your events.
A 4x7 foot rangoli tribute to the 'Freedom Fighters of India', created for an Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebration on Independence Day. The artwork features portraits of Mahatma Gandhi, Subhas Chandra Bose, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, and Bhagat Singh.
About Patriotic & Historical Art
These portraits rely on precision, not templates. To capture the likeness of figures like Tilak or Bose, I use crushed charcoal powder for deep shadows and white stone powder for high-contrast highlights. If you have an event space, I need a dust-free and wind-free area to ensure the details hold up throughout the ceremony.
When I work on historical art, my goal is to spark respect. It is not just about filling shapes with color, it is about honoring the gaze and expressions of heroes like Subhas Chandra Bose or Bhagat Singh. For these large pieces, like the 4x7 ft tribute I created for the Zilla Rangmandir, I use a combination of limestone powder for the base and pigment-heavy colors that stand out even from a distance.
Unlike standard floral designs, these portraits require a different kind of focus. I start with a rough sketch using chalk to map out the proportions and then build up the layers of charcoal and colored powder. Because these are often commissioned for public gatherings or stage events, I make sure the materials are robust enough to withstand the bustle of a crowd. If you are planning an Independence Day celebration, a tribute event, or a cultural program in Bengaluru or anywhere in Karnataka, reach out. We can discuss the space and the specific figures you want to honor.
