Custom Buttercream Cakes and Edible Art
A look behind the scenes at how I turn fresh ingredients and hand-piped buttercream into edible art for your celebrations.
This cake is a tribute to the beautiful Gulmohar tree. The design is hand-piped with colored buttercream to create a miniature painting you can eat.

A behind-the-scenes look at my flavour of the month. I believe in using the freshest ingredients, like these juicy oranges being prepped for a new seasonal cake.

About The Art of the Cake
When you see the Gulmohar tree cake, you are looking at layers of coloured buttercream applied with a palette knife. It takes hours of focus to build that specific texture, turning the cake surface into a canvas. I approach every design this way, ensuring the edible art is as meticulously prepared as the fresh fruit compote inside.
Baking is just the foundation, but the finishing is where the character comes out. Whether it is a hand-painted scene inspired by a Gulmohar tree or a minimalist design with sharp, clean lines, my goal is to make sure your cake tastes as deliberate as it looks.
I rely on seasonal ingredients to build flavour profiles. For example, when oranges are in season, I am prepping them from scratch to infuse that genuine citrus brightness into my sponges. This dedication to fresh ingredients is standard for every order that leaves my Mumbai kitchen.
My process for these custom cakes usually starts with a conversation about your vision. I do not do last-minute orders because good art requires time. I use Swiss Meringue Buttercream for its stability and smooth texture, which allows for the intricate Lambeth piping or smooth scraped sides you see in my gallery.
Whether you are looking for a small bento cake with a cheeky message or a large, tiered centrepiece for a milestone event, I treat the surface of the cake as a design project. If you have a theme in mind, text me the details, and we can figure out the best way to translate that onto buttercream.
Lost In Taste
I’m the artist behind Lost In Taste, where I’ve spent the last 7 years doodling with buttercream in Mumbai. I believe a cake should be a piece of edible art, whether it’s a tiny bento cake or a grand celebration centrepiece.
