Meet Swati: Design Philosophy & The Soul of By The Riverside
Welcome to my space. I believe a home should feel like a deep breath, not a showcase. Here is a bit about who I am, my journey, and why I design the way I do.
This is me in a recently completed kitchen, from our "Where Daffodils Dance" project. This project was a love letter to serenity, focusing on thoughtful simplicity and creating a sanctuary of peace and calm.
Receiving my certificate after completing an entrepreneurial program at the prestigious IIM Bangalore. I'm always learning and integrating new tools to better manage our growing team and projects.
A photo of me at IIM Bangalore. This experience was invaluable, and it reflects my commitment to growing both as a designer and an entrepreneur.
Taking a quiet moment. My personal "take it easy" attitude and yoga practice are deeply connected to my design philosophy of creating calm, balanced spaces.

About this collection
I do not just hand over a plan and walk away. I am on-site through the mess and the magic, managing everything from the first day of demolition to the final styling. My process is slow and steady, much like the homes I create, ensuring that we are not just filling a space, but building something that truly feels like you.
After 14 years in corporate tech, I realized I was running a race that did not lead to where I wanted to go. That is when I started By The Riverside. My design philosophy is not about keeping up with the latest magazine trends or showing off with flashy finishes. It is about stillness, longevity, and creating rooms where your family can actually live, breathe, and grow.
In the last 7 years, my team and I have completed over 50 projects across Bangalore. We have learned that the most important part of design is listening. When we start a project, we spend time understanding your stories, your quirks, and your habits. I am not an architect, but my team handles everything from structural changes like mezzanines and arches to the smallest decor details. We manage the site work and the technical side so that you do not have to.
Recently, I spent time at IIM Bangalore learning how to combine my creative passion with better project management tools. This helps me handle our growing list of projects while keeping the personal, calm connection I have with every client. Whether we are planning a rustic renovation or setting up a new home from scratch, I bring the same attitude to work that I bring to my yoga practice: no rush, no race, just a focus on what matters.
By the Riverside
I am Swati. After 14 years in corporate tech, I traded the office life for the rhythm of home design. I am the one you will talk to, the one on-site, and the one ensuring your home feels as still and calm as my yoga practice.
