Wrestling for Grappling: Master Takedowns & Control

Stop drilling static moves that fail in live sparring. We integrate wrestling concepts specifically for BJJ and MMA, focusing on kuzushi and real-time reaction.

Here are three wrestling games we use to develop real skills. We start with over-unders and progress to using foot sweeps and trips, all against a live, resisting partner.

A look at a private training session. I believe in working physically with my students, providing real-time resistance so they can learn how every action has a reaction.

Getting stuck in a bad spot is part of the game. Accepting the situation is an option, but wrestling up is always a better one. We teach you how to fight to get back to your feet.

These are some of our hand-fighting and wrestle-up games. The fight for dominant grips and posture is often undervalued but is key to setting up your takedowns or guard.

A glimpse into our "Wrestle Jitsu" session. We blend wrestling and Jiu-Jitsu seamlessly, creating scrambles and transitions that are common in modern grappling.

Takedowns become much easier when you focus on "kuzushi," or off-balancing your opponent. Instead of drilling moves, we learn the concept of breaking balance.

About Wrestling for Grappling: Takedowns & Control

Takedowns don't work when you treat them like a choreographed dance. My sessions focus on live 'games' where we use hand-fighting and clinch work to actually off-balance opponents. You aren't learning a sequence, you're learning how to find a finish from any scramble.

Why static drills fail

Most gyms spend hours on 'dead' drills where your partner is a mannequin. In a fight, nobody stands still. My approach treats wrestling as a series of connected problems. Whether you are aiming for a double-leg or recovering from a bad spot, the goal is always the same: control the center of gravity.

Our Wrestle Jitsu methodology

We focus on three core pillars in every session:

  • Kuzushi (Off-balancing): If you cannot break their balance, you cannot throw them. We train this in every round.
  • Hand-fighting: Establishing dominant grips is the difference between a successful takedown and getting stuck in the clinch.
  • Wrestle-ups: Learning to get back to your feet from a bad position is the most essential survival skill in MMA and BJJ.

What to expect

This is a non-AC facility in Bengaluru. It is hot, it is humid, and it is intense. We do not do easy days. You are here to build real grit. If you are looking for a gentle workout where you chat for an hour, this isn't it. If you want to actually learn how to fight, welcome to the tribe.
