Mastering the Attack: Professional Spiking Drills in Bengaluru
A powerful spike is more than just hitting the ball hard. It is the result of explosive power, perfect timing, and precise footwork that we build here, one drill at a time.
A two-player spike drill at our Malleswaram facility. One player sets, the other attacks, practicing the timing and communication needed for a successful play.
A super spike in action during a practice game. This shows how our drills translate into powerful, effective attacks during live play.
This continuous ball attack drill trains stamina and consistency. The player performs an agility exercise then immediately transitions into a spike, repeating the sequence.
Individual attack training starts from the ground up. I'm teaching the correct arm swing and body mechanics while kneeling to isolate the upper body movement.
Attack training with the whole group. I'm demonstrating the proper technique before the kids line up to practice their approach and arm swing.
This attack training drill focuses on the arm swing motion. Players practice in unison to build muscle memory for a consistent and powerful hit.
This partner drill focuses on the jump and timing for a spike. One player provides resistance to ensure the attacker is jumping at the right moment and place.
About this collection
Most players come to me wanting to improve their arm swing, but that is rarely the real issue. I watch players lose power simply because they mistime their approach or jump too early. At our Malleswaram facility, we break down the three-step approach until it becomes second nature, because that is where the real force of a spike is generated. You cannot hit effectively if your feet are not in the right position before you leave the ground.
Spiking is where the game turns, and I teach it with the same intensity we bring to pro-level training. As the official grassroots academy for the Bengaluru Torpedoes, my focus is not just on making a kid hit a ball, but on building an athlete who understands the mechanics of the attack.
The Anatomy of an Attack
We drill the sequence until it is perfect:
- The Approach: We focus on the three-step rhythm. If your feet are wrong, your jump will be shallow, and your power will be wasted.
- The Jump: We combine plyometrics and hurdle jumps from our agility training to ensure you are reaching your peak height every time.
- The Contact: I teach players how to snap the wrist and connect at the highest point of the ball, maximizing speed and accuracy.
Why Practice With Us?
I do not take shortcuts. We run drills until muscle memory takes over. Whether you are in our Junior Development Program or the Elite Performance Program, you are getting the same level of attention on your form. We are a family, but on the court, we are here to work. If you are serious about becoming a competitive player, you will find no better environment to train than right here in Bengaluru.
Training Philosophy
Our 'Never Ever Give Up' rule applies to every single drill. You will miss, and you will fail, but that is how you learn to win. We train using real-game scenarios, ensuring that when you step into a match, the spike feels like something you have already done a hundred times in practice.
BT Volleyball Academy
I do not care if you have never touched a ball in your life. If you have the drive to work hard and the patience to learn, I will help you turn that potential into real skill. We are a team here, and I am committed to making sure every kid who walks through our doors leaves a better athlete than they arrived.
