About The Heart of Atta Galatta: Our Community
There is no dress code or right way to be here. Whether you are coming alone to browse the shelves in silence, or stepping onto our performance floor for an open mic, you will find the space is built for conversation, not just commerce. If you are nervous about your first visit, just grab a coffee and settle into the wooden seating. Our community is used to welcoming new faces every single day.
I started Atta Galatta to be more than a shop selling books. Located in the heart of Indiranagar, this space is where the city comes to slow down. My shelves are packed with Indian literature, regional translations, and poetry, but the true galatta—the fun commotion—happens in the spaces between. Whether you are a regular coming for a book club, or someone wandering in for a weekend quiz, you are part of the story. I host a variety of events, from Chittara folk art sessions to loud poetry slams and quiet author readings. It is an inclusive, safe space for teenagers, seniors, queer folks, and families. You do not need to be an expert to join a workshop or share a story on our mic. Just come as you are. If you are looking to meet fellow readers in Bangalore, this is where you start.
