Sadhana at the Shala: Authentic Ashtanga and Meditation
Our studio in JP Nagar is a home for daily practice and community, where we grow together through breath, consistent effort, and deep listening.
In the Brahma Muhurta, the sacred hour before sunrise, dedicated practitioners arrive at the shala. We learned this discipline from our teachers, who woke at 1 AM for their own practice. It is in this pre-dawn stillness that the practice takes on a deeper quality.
Meditation is a cornerstone of our practice at the shala. We offer daily sessions to help find balance and calm the mind. It is a simple but powerful tool for reconnecting with yourself amidst the demands of daily life.
We recently began a 27-day journey of 108 Suryanamaskars. We start with 27 sun salutations and build up over time, ending each session with meditation. This disciplined practice builds physical and mental fortitude.
We recently held a beautiful puja ceremony to mark one year at our current shala location. We are grateful for the blessings of Lord Patanjali, the founder of Yoga, and for the community that fills this space with their practice and energy.
About Sadhana at the Shala
Our shala is not a gym, but a space for sadhana. We focus on showing up to the mat daily, practicing Mysore-style Ashtanga, meditation, and kirtan. We move slowly, breath by breath, building discipline in a community that genuinely supports your growth.
At Ashtanga Yoga Sadhna, the practice begins in the Brahma Muhurta, the sacred hour before sunrise. This timing is intentional, passed down from my teachers, to help us find stillness before the world wakes up. We do not chase perfect poses here. Instead, we cultivate a steady rhythm of asana, pranayama, and meditation that sustains us off the mat.
My JP Nagar shala is designed to be a kula, a community that feels like home. Whether you are joining us for Mysore-style practice, our all-night sadhana sessions, or simple guided meditation, you are entering a space where ego is left at the door. We honour the journey of each practitioner, whether you are just beginning or have been practicing for years.
We also integrate the philosophy of yoga into daily life, hosting Kirtan circles and discussions that help us connect with the deeper aspects of the tradition. This is a place to learn, to breathe, and to be present with others who are also seeking a path of service and discipline. If you are looking for a place to simply show up and do the work, you are welcome here.
Nitesh Batra
I started this shala to build a home for practice, not just another studio. My path has taken me from studying with my gurus to the stillness of Himalayan treks, and I am here to share that discipline and grace with you.
