Props are not crutches. They are your path to deeper alignment. Join me to unlock your potential using blocks, wheels, and more to refine every pose.

A student uses a yoga wheel and blocks to find stability and balance in a deep squat. This setup helps to open the hips while supporting the feet, making the pose more accessible.

The yoga wheel is an excellent tool for deepening backbends like Dhanurasana (Bow Pose). Here, a student uses it to open her chest and shoulders more fully.

A student uses the yoga wheel to support a gentle backbend, allowing for a restorative stretch through the spine and chest.

Using a chair, this student achieves a deep, supported backbend. This is a fantastic way to work on spinal flexibility without putting pressure on the lower back.

This advanced stretch uses a chair to support a split with a backbend. It's a testament to how props can help us explore creative and challenging variations of asanas.

A student demonstrates incredible strength and balance in Firefly Pose (Tittibhasana) using a stool for elevation. This helps in understanding the mechanics of the arm balance.

This deep backbend is made possible with the support of a chair. This technique allows the student to focus on opening the chest and shoulders safely.

A bamboo stick helps this student maintain alignment and balance in a wide-legged seated forward bend (Upavistha Konasana). It's a unique prop we use to enhance the practice.

Blocks provide stability for a student working on a standing split variation. This allows them to focus on hip alignment and deepening the stretch.

This is a back-bending chair, a specialized prop we use to help students safely open their thoracic spine. It provides excellent support for the back.

About Creative Prop Work

Most people think props are for beginners, but in my studio, they are keys to unlocking advanced postures safely. Whether you are using a chair for a backbend or a wheel for core stability, these tools allow you to find the correct alignment without straining your muscles. It is about working smarter, not harder, and gaining the confidence to hold poses you once thought were impossible.

I believe props are powerful partners in your practice. When you see me or my students using bamboo sticks in a seated forward bend or a chair for a deep thoracic opening, we are not just making the pose easier. We are teaching the body to understand alignment.

My approach to creative prop work includes:

  • Yoga Wheels: These are excellent for heart openers and core stability. Using a wheel helps you safely deepen backbends like Dhanurasana while supporting your spine.
  • Chairs: I use chairs to help students achieve advanced inversions and splits. This provides the leverage needed to lengthen the spine without the fear of falling.
  • Blocks & Straps: These are essential for maintaining proper form during standing splits or balancing postures, ensuring you target the right muscles.
  • Bamboo Sticks: A unique tool I use to keep your shoulders and back aligned during complex seated poses.

Whether you are joining my Yoga Alliance certified Teacher Training program or a general drop-in class, you will learn how to integrate these tools into your daily routine. It does not matter if you are stiff or flexible; these props help you meet your body where it is today. My team and I provide hands-on adjustments to ensure you use these tools to progress, not just to get through the session.
