About Indian Folk Art & Mandala Workshops
You don't need to bring a single supply to these workshops. I provide everything—from the specialized dotting tools for Mandalas to the fine pens for Kalamkari—so you can just walk in, sit down, and focus entirely on the meditative rhythm of your artwork.
Indian folk art has such a beautiful way of telling a story through patterns, and that is exactly what we explore in these workshops. When we sit down for a Kalamkari session, we focus on the intricate line work, bringing motifs like the tree of life or the traditional peacock to life with vibrant colours. It is a slow, grounding process that helps you switch off from the busy week and just be in the moment.
Then there is the meditative world of Mandalas. Whether you are painting a complex geometric pattern or trying your hand at Dot Mandalas, it is all about finding your rhythm. I often see students come in feeling a bit stressed, but after an hour of placing dots or tracing lines, their entire mood changes. It is truly relaxing and makes you so happy when you see your own masterpiece emerge on the paper or canvas.
We also dive into the vibrant geometry of Madhubani painting, learning the classic forms that have been passed down for generations. My studio in Kalena Agrahara is a chill space where nobody expects you to be perfect. If you are worried about making a mistake, do not be. I guide everyone individually, ensuring you learn the techniques—like how to hold the brush or maintain the consistency of your colours—without feeling rushed. If painting has been on your mind, just come as you are. You will be surprised at how much fun you can have when you let go of the pressure to be perfect and just play with colours.
