I turn your favorite travel memories into soft, digital watercolor art. From quiet mountain escapes to bustling city streets, let’s sketch your journey.

This is a sketch of a cozy homestay in Tam Coc, Vietnam. I love capturing the charm of the places I visit, and I can create a similar architectural portrait of a meaningful place for you, like a childhood home or a favorite vacation spot.

The iconic yellow walls of Hoi An, Vietnam. This urban sketch captures the unique architecture and atmosphere of the ancient town. My travel illustrations focus on the small details that make a place unforgettable.

The beautiful Ngoc Son Temple in Hanoi. This architectural illustration shows my watercolor and ink style, perfect for capturing the intricate details of historical buildings and landmarks from your travels.

The feeling of adventure starting with a morning flight. This simple, evocative sketch is an example of how I capture the moments in between, the journey as well as the destination, in my travel art.

A dramatic scene of a storm at the Gateway of India in Mumbai. I also enjoy illustrating the powerful and moody side of a city, using digital watercolors to create atmosphere and emotion.

A peaceful sunset over the Gateway of India. This piece showcases a more painterly, impressionistic style, perfect for capturing the beautiful light and colors of a city at dusk.

A throwback to a magical escape to Naukuchiatal lake. This landscape painting shows how I can recreate a serene view from your photos, focusing on the reflection and the calm atmosphere of the water.

The sky and lake dressed in pretty colors at Nainital. This digital painting captures the soft light of evening, showing my skill in creating atmospheric landscapes from reference photos.

A Ghibli-inspired landscape from the movie 'Spirited Away'. I love drawing inspiration from animation and can create fantasy landscapes or scenes based on your favorite movies or art styles.

The view from my window of the snow-capped mountains. This piece is a perfect example of a custom landscape illustration I can create to capture a view that is special to you.

About Wanderlust Watercolors

I work primarily on Procreate to blend that traditional watercolor feel with the convenience of digital art. For these travel pieces, I usually work from your reference photos, focusing on the lighting and that one specific vibe that makes a place feel like home.

How We Turn Memories Into Art

When you share a photo of a place that holds meaning—a quiet pahad (mountain) retreat or that tiny cafe where you spent the whole afternoon—I don't just draw the lines. I try to capture the mood. My travel art is less about photographic accuracy and more about how the place felt at that moment.

The Process Once you send over your reference, we start with a rough sketch to ensure we’re on the same page. I use digital watercolor and ink-line techniques to build the scene in layers. Because it’s digital, we have flexibility to tweak colors or focus on specific elements you love, like the way the evening sun hit a particular building.

What You Get

  • High-Res File: You get a 300 DPI digital file, ready for you to print, frame, or share on your social feed.
  • Process Video: For every travel commission, I include a short, edited time-lapse video of your artwork coming to life. It’s always fun to see the blank canvas turn into a scene.
  • Style: My style leans towards urban sketching and digital watercolor wash. It’s light, airy, and full of character, perfect for preserving the soul of your travel photos.

I’m always happy to add small details, like a specific date or a short caption, to make the piece feel truly yours. Whether it’s an architectural landmark or a simple street view, I’m excited to help you keep that memory alive.

I'm Ashima, the person behind Life in Strokes. My art started as a way to scribble down the moments that made me smile during my travels—whether it's the mountains or a quiet cafe. I don't chase perfection; I just want to capture that warm, fuzzy feeling of being somewhere special.
