About A Glimpse into Our Classroom
When you walk into my studio, do not expect rigid desks and chairs. We keep the environment informal with floor and low-table seating, which helps kids feel relaxed and grounded. In these small batches of 4 to 6 students, I focus on the process of making art rather than the final result, so students feel safe to make mistakes and experiment without the pressure of being perfect.
My Teaching Philosophy
I believe that art is for everyone, not just those who were born with a gift. In my classroom, the goal is not to produce a masterpiece every single time but to build the confidence to express yourself. My teaching focuses on understanding the 'why' behind the art—how to mix colours, how to hold a brush, and how to look at a shape and see an object.
The Classroom Experience
My studio is designed to be a sanctuary away from digital distractions. We focus on hands-on creation, whether it is mastering oil pastels for young learners, experimenting with palette knives for texture, or working on detailed canvas pieces.
We structure our classes to cater to different stages of learning:
- Foundation: For the little ones, we start with simple shapes and converting them into familiar objects like animals or vehicles to build motor skills.
- Development: Older students progress into shading, perspective, and composition.
- Expression: Teens and adults often work on canvases, using acrylics or watercolours to find their unique voice.
What You Need to Know
Classes are held in small groups, which allows me to provide individual mentorship during every session. We supply the space and the guidance, and I ask that you bring your own sketchbook and basic materials so you learn to take responsibility for your tools from day one. If you are looking for a place where your child can get messy, learn actual skills, and have fun doing it, you will fit right in.
