About Art You Can Wear & Use
You do not need prior experience to start designing your own gear. In these workshops, we focus on using fabric-safe paints to turn plain pouches, T-shirts, and tote bags into one-of-a-kind pieces. Whether you are a kid sketching your favorite cartoon character or an adult trying out a textured style, you will walk away with a functional item that you actually use daily.
Turning Art into Everyday Use
Many of my students come in thinking art is only for canvas or paper. I love showing them that their creativity can live on their clothes and accessories too. Fabric painting is a fantastic way to learn about color theory and composition while making something tangible.
What We Do in These Workshops
- Fabric & Pouch Painting: We use permanent, fabric-safe acrylics that won't wash off. You can bring your own plain pouches or T-shirts, or use the ones I provide.
- Upcycling Projects: We often take old paper bags or plain cotton totes and transform them into reusable art. It is a great lesson in reducing waste while making something beautiful.
- Technique Focus: We cover base coating, outlining, and blending. For older students, we explore more detailed designs like florals or complex patterns.
Why This Is Different
This is not about achieving perfect lines or following a rigid textbook. It is about understanding how colors sit on fabric and learning how to fix mistakes by turning them into new design elements. Kids especially love these sessions because they get to take their work home and use it for school or play immediately.
We keep these sessions fun, messy, and screen-free. If you have a specific idea for a design, bring it! I love helping students translate their imagination onto fabric.
