We view light as a fundamental building material. From custom skylights to sculptural fixtures, we choreograph light and shadow to transform your home into a dynamic space that evolves with the hours.

The sweeping curve of the Worli Duplex staircase, viewed from below. The abstract, sculptural quality of the form is revealed by the way it catches and reflects light, creating a fluid, organic shape within the home.

The soft curve of the staircase void frames a cluster of hanging lights from Flos. This view from below transforms the stairwell into a sculptural composition, where architecture and lighting design are fully integrated.

Looking down into the void of the sculptural staircase, the form appears like a ribbon of light. The design is not just about moving between floors, but about creating a powerful visual and spatial experience.

Our design process for the skylights at DUA Villa began with simple sketches. We explored various forms and sections to understand how they would channel daylight and create the ethereal play of light we envisioned for the interiors.

An isometric drawing illustrates how the sculptural roof elements of the DUA Villa are positioned to introduce natural light into specific interior spaces. This strategic placement is key to the home's lighting design.

A circular skylight at the House of Galleries in Kutch, framed by the geometry of wooden rafters. The design not only illuminates the space but also brings a touch of the sky indoors, connecting the home to the world outside.

Another view of the skylight at the House of Galleries, showing the interplay between the curved opening and the angular wooden structure. The contrast between these forms creates a dynamic architectural detail.

A close-up of the skylight detail, where the raw texture of the plasterwork catches the sunlight. The wooden rafters cut across the circle of blue sky, creating a strong graphic composition.

In the House of Galleries, long curvilinear skylights allow slivers of light to wash over the lime-washed walls. The charred timber rafters create a rhythmic pattern of light and shadow, adding depth and character to the space.

The dance of light and shadow from the skylights and timber rafters. This image captures the atmospheric quality we strive for, where the building itself becomes a canvas for the changing light of the day.

About Sculpting with Light

Light integration begins long before we select a single lamp. We view skylights and window placements as structural interventions that anchor the home’s geometry. By studying how sunlight tracks across your site throughout the year, we create spaces that transform with the passing hours, using shadow as much as illumination to define your living areas.
