Custom Architectural Lighting and Sculptural Installations
We believe lighting is not an accessory, but a core architectural element. Our custom installations manipulate form and shadow to define the atmosphere of your space.
The 'Moon' pendant by Davide Groppi serves as the central anchor in the Vaulted Haus dining area. Its large, spherical form provides a soft, diffused light that holds the entire monochromatic space together under the vaulted ceiling.
In the son's bedroom of the 'Wedged Haus', a custom light installation in Nero metal unfolds into the bedside table itself. This piece merges lighting and furniture, with the ribbed wooden slats and smoked glass behind it creating an illusion of depth.
The headboard wall in the Vaulted Haus master bedroom features a combination of frosted glass bricks and grey veneer. The glass bricks can be backlit, transforming the wall into a source of soft, ambient light for the entire room.
A dynamic look at the wedged light installation in the son's bedroom. The integrated light within the Nero metal structure highlights the texture of the grey ribbed wooden slats, demonstrating how light can activate surfaces.
Another perspective of the dining area in the Vaulted Haus, showing how the 'Moon' pendant light interacts with the surrounding grey scale material palette. The light fixture is a key element in establishing a dialogue between the living and dining zones.
About Architectural Lighting as Sculpture
We do not source off-the-shelf fixtures. Every light installation we create is precision-engineered to manipulate sciography, the study of shadow, within your specific spatial volume. Whether it is an articulated Nero metal arm that resolves into a side table or a backlit glass brick wall, our lighting is designed to shift the perception of your room's dimensions.
Lighting is rarely an independent object in our practice, it is a structural intervention. When we conceptualize a fixture, we examine the site's unique architectural language. In the 'Wedged Haus' project, we utilized Nero metal to create an installation that flows directly into the bedside furniture, blurring the line between a lamp and a table. This is not merely about illumination. It is about defining the atmosphere through material contrast and shadow play. We work with high CRI LED modules and CNC-machined metals to ensure that our fixtures perform with technical precision while maintaining a sculptural form. For large volumes, like those in the 'Vaulted Haus', we design lighting to hold the space together, using scale and material finish to ground the monochromatic palette. Our approach involves rigorous 3D form development to resolve complex geometries, ensuring each piece is fully integrated into the architecture. Whether it involves recessed aluminum profiles, kinetic mechanical parts, or tensioned rope systems, the result is a fixture that feels inherent to the house. If you are looking to integrate lighting that functions as both art and structure, we bring this technical and conceptual rigor to all projects across the Mumbai Metropolitan Area.
