About this collection

Notice how we lay out individual Kemp stones and antique coins on the fabric before picking up a needle. For our signature jewellery-inspired blouses, this step is essential to ensure the design mirrors the structure of real temple ornaments. We spend hours balancing these pieces so that the weight is distributed comfortably, allowing you to wear heavy embroidery with ease during long wedding ceremonies.

The Foundation of Our Craft

At APR Vastrakala, we believe the beauty of a garment lies in its construction. Before a single thread is stitched, we focus on the foundation. We use double lining with paper canvas fusing on fabrics like raw silk and velvet. This isn't just for shape; it provides the structural integrity needed to support the dense weight of our signature Zardosi and stone work.

Artistry in Motion

Our process often begins with hand-painting. You might see artists mapping out complex Tanjore-style deities or intricate peacock motifs directly onto the silk. This serves as the blueprint for the embroidery that follows. Once the paint sets, we begin the Maggam work—aari embroidery using Zari, sugar beads, and sequins. This is where the texture is built, layer by layer, until the fabric becomes a tapestry.

The Jewellery Concept

Our most requested pieces are those that mimic South Indian temple jewellery. This is a complex task. We don't just sew on stones; we engineer the placement to replicate the look of a Vanki or an Addigai. By using high-grade Kemp stones, Kundan, and Zircon, we ensure the blouse captures the same light and opulence as the jewellery you wear on your wedding day. Every coin is measured and spaced to ensure the design remains fluid.

Why Precision Matters

We know a bridal blouse is worn for several hours, often in the heat of a ceremony. This is why we pay equal attention to the interior. We use high-grade cotton linings and soft satin backings to ensure that the back of the embroidery never irritates your skin. Whether it is a deep-V cut or a high-neck design, our construction ensures the blouse fits perfectly, holding its silhouette from the first ritual to the final photo.
