Is MMA safe for your child? Understanding my approach
I know parents have worries about MMA. Let us look past the myths and talk about how I keep training disciplined, supervised, and safe for every child in my dojo.
Is MMA training dangerous for kids? In this 'Insights' episode, a parent and I discuss this common myth and I explain our safety-first approach. The best way to know is to come and see for yourself.
About Addressing Parent Concerns
Many people see MMA on TV and worry about injuries, but that happens when there is no supervision. In my Sector 46 dojo, we do not do wild, unmonitored sparring. Every movement is deliberate, overseen by me, and designed to build physical intelligence rather than just aggression. When you step into my training space, you will see thick mats, structured drills, and calm focus.
Safety is not an afterthought here. It is the foundation of everything I teach. When you search for kids' martial arts in Gurugram, you might worry about aggressive fighting or kids getting hurt, but let me clarify how we do things differently at Omjiujitsu.
Why my approach is different
- Small Ratios: I keep my batches small, with a student-teacher ratio of 1:10 to 1:15. This ensures that no child is ever lost in the crowd or practicing without eyes on them.
- No Wild Sparring: We avoid the flashy, high-impact sequences you see in cinema. Instead, we focus on the fundamentals of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) for ground control, Muay Thai for striking, and wrestling mechanics.
- Mat Chats: My training isn't just physical. We hold 'Mat Chats' where we discuss mental fortitude, how to handle bullying, and how to stay disciplined in life.
Come see for yourself
I always tell parents that the best way to understand my training is to come and see it. My doors are open in Sector 46. You can sit, watch a session, and talk to me before you make any decisions for your child. I want you to feel as confident in my process as I am in my students. If you have questions about how we handle discipline, or if you are worried about your child's specific temperament, let's talk about it.
