This peaceful forest scene was created using a special 'blur technique' on canvas. This method helps children learn about creating depth and atmosphere in their paintings.
Another beautiful example of the blur technique. This young artist created a soft, misty background for her bamboo forest painting.
Look at the wonderful sense of distance in this forest path painting. The blur technique is a great way for kids to explore how colours and focus can change a scene.
A resting deer in a misty forest. This student did a fantastic job using the blur technique to create a dreamy, gentle atmosphere in her artwork.
Two students proudly displaying their forest paintings. It's always amazing to see how each child applies the same technique to create their own unique version of the scene.
The detail on the spotted deer is a lovely contrast to the soft, blurred background in this forest painting. A great example of combining different painting styles.
Inspired by the documentary 'The Elephant Whisperers', my students paid tribute to Bomman and Bellie with these beautiful sunset safari paintings.
The warm colours of the sunset and the elephant silhouettes create a powerful and emotional scene in this lovely painting.
A young artist with her stunning elephant tribute painting. We learned about creating gradients for the sunset sky and painting silhouettes.
The joy on her face is as bright as the sunset in her painting. A beautiful piece celebrating the bond between humans and animals.
About Canvas Painting & Core Techniques
In these sessions, we move beyond basic sketching to master the 'blur technique' for creating depth and atmosphere on canvas. It is a key foundational skill that helps students understand how to manipulate light and shadow, allowing them to transform a simple landscape into a vibrant, professional-looking piece of art.
Art is about much more than just a pretty picture. In our studio, we focus on the process of creating. When we teach canvas painting, we emphasize colour harmony, perspective, and blending methods that make a painting feel alive.
Whether we are painting a forest scene, a sunset safari, or an imaginative April Fool's day concept, the goal is always the same: to help you learn real artistic techniques without the pressure of perfection.
We keep our batches small, with only 5 to 8 students per group. This ensures that every child gets the attention they need to grasp concepts like the blur technique or layering. We use our own BAAKIN paints, which are non-toxic, EN71 certified, and have a rich, acrylic-like finish, so you don't have to worry about what is touching your skin. Mistakes are not just allowed here; they are a vital part of the creative journey.
