Soulful & Devotional Dance Choreography for Sacred Events
For me, dance is a form of prayer. Whether you are planning a performance for Mahashivratri, Janmashtami, or a temple ceremony, I help you express that devotion through graceful, story-driven choreography.
A devotional performance for Mahashivratri, filmed at a temple to honor Lord Shiva. The choreography is filled with reverence and grace, making it a perfect offering for this sacred occasion.
Ganpati Bappa Morya! This powerful group performance to 'Deva Shree Ganesha' was for Ananta Chaturdashi. The synchronized movements and strong formations in traditional red costumes create a visually stunning tribute.
Celebrating Diwali with a beautiful Ram Stuti. This semi-classical group performance, filmed outdoors, combines graceful movements and storytelling to honor the return of Lord Ram.
A semi-classical solo performance for Dussehra. This dance uses expressive movements to capture the essence of the festival, celebrating the victory of good over evil.
About Soulful & Devotional Dances
When performing devotional pieces, the secret isn't just getting the steps right—it's about the Abhinaya (expressions). I spend extra time with my students working on their facial movements and posture so the story behind the prayer truly connects with the audience, rather than just looking like another routine.
Dancing with Purpose
Dancing for a deity or at a religious event requires a shift in approach. It is not about high energy or complex footwork; it is about stillness, grace, and storytelling. In my sessions, we start by listening to the lyrics and understanding the Raag. Whether it is a Ram Stuti for Diwali or a powerful Deva Shree Ganesha for Ganesh Chaturthi, my goal is to help you embody the emotion of the music.
My Approach to Devotional Choreography
- Focus on Expressions: We dedicate the first few sessions to understanding the bhava (emotion) of the song. If you are a non-dancer, do not worry; we keep the footwork simple and focus on graceful hand gestures (mudras) and meaningful expressions.
- Temple-Ready Performances: I have choreographed for various community events and temple stages. I understand the space constraints and the need for movements that are respectful and visually engaging.
- Storytelling: Every piece I create tells a story. From the victory of good over evil during Dussehra to the warmth of a Diwali celebration, we ensure the choreography honors the occasion.
How We Start
Every batch begins with a prayer—Ganpati Bappa Morya!—to bring good vibes into our practice. We can work in-person at the studio in Jagriti Vihar or online if you are far away. If you have a specific song or a specific deity you want to honor, let’s chat about how we can build a routine that feels meaningful to you.
