Grand Stage Productions & Dance Dramas
We believe performance is the ultimate expression of dance. Our students get extensive opportunities to be part of large-scale, professionally choreographed dance dramas and ensemble performances at festivals across Bengaluru.
Our Bharathanatyam ensemble in a powerful opening formation, illuminated by dramatic stage lighting. Each performance is a culmination of months of dedicated practice and teamwork.

About this collection
Performance is a completely different discipline compared to studio practice. When we prepare for shows like 'Durge' or our ensemble productions, we focus heavily on stage blocking, lighting awareness, and costume coordination. If you are looking to join our performance ensemble, please note that this requires a significant commitment beyond standard class hours, including weekend rehearsals and technical production sessions.
For us, stepping onto a stage is where the art truly comes alive. We do not just teach steps in a studio; we train our students to project those movements to an audience. Whether it is a traditional Bharathanatyam piece or a fusion Kathak performance, we treat every event as a production.
The Natyanjali Ensemble
Our performance group is where advanced students get to put their training to the test. Getting into the ensemble is an audition-based process because we need dancers who are comfortable with the physical and mental demands of live stage shows. We look for performers who can hold their own in large groups and who understand how to synchronize with their co-dancers under varying stage conditions.
Why Stage Experience Matters
Beyond the joy of performing, stage work provides a type of feedback you cannot get in a mirror. You learn about stage presence, projection, and the reality of costume management during complex choreography. We have seen our students grow in confidence once they manage their first professional production.
What We Cover in Production Training
- Stage Geometry: Understanding how to use the entire space, not just the center.
- Lighting & Sound: Learning to perform in sync with stage cues and music transitions.
- Ensemble Coordination: Developing the discipline to move as one unit, which is the hallmark of a great Kathak or Bharathanatyam ensemble.
Whether you are aiming to perform at local cultural festivals in Bengaluru or looking to be part of our large-scale dance dramas, our approach remains the same: respect the tradition, but own the stage.
Adithi Ashok
I’m Adithi, and along with my sister Spurthi, I run Natyanjali School of Dance in JP Nagar. We believe dance is something that deserves to be shared on a big stage, not just kept inside a studio. When we aren't teaching, we are busy choreographing and performing in productions that keep our family parampara alive.
