About this collection
Restoration is a balancing act. My process starts by stripping back layers to assess the structural bones, such as timber trusses and load-bearing walls, before any design decisions are made. I do not just cover old wear with fresh plaster, I focus on fixing the root causes of age-related damage so your home remains solid and functional for years to come.
When taking on an old home, the priority is always structural integrity. Whether it involves structural jacketing to strengthen load-bearing members or inserting steel I-beams to create open layouts, the goal is to make the building safer without erasing its history.
The Restoration Process
- Structural Audit: We begin with a deep assessment of the building's health, identifying necessary repairs to foundations, columns, and walls.
- Material Preservation: We salvage and reuse where possible. For roofing, we integrate traditional Mangalore tiles with modern steel and wood frames to ensure the aesthetic remains authentic while the support is current.
- Modern Utilities: Older homes often lack the capacity for modern electrical and plumbing loads. We perform a complete overhaul, installing new conduit piping, FRLS wiring, and modern plumbing lines to bring the home up to standard.
- Seamless Integration: I use modern finishes like wire-cut bricks and exposed concrete alongside preserved traditional wood to create a space that feels rooted yet comfortable for contemporary living.
Every project is different, and I stay involved from the first sketch to the final site visit in Bengaluru to ensure the vision remains clear.
