My Path: From Structural Engineer to Classical Hatha Yoga

About My Path: From Engineer to Yogi
Many students ask how I went from structural engineering to teaching yoga. For years, I focused on building structures, but I felt my own body and mind were becoming a barrier to inner stability. It was not about leaving a career but finding a tool to handle the restlessness I carried. This path is not about simple fitness or achieving a pose; it is about learning to use your body as a conscious instrument for stability.
Beyond the Engineering Mindset
Transitioning from structural engineering to teaching Classical Hatha Yoga was not a sudden impulse, but a necessity for my own sanity. In engineering, you deal with external stresses and physical loads. In yoga, the process is the same but the direction is inward. The Isha Hatha Yoga programs I facilitate are not exercises in flexibility. They are precise, ancient methods designed to align your physiology and psychological state.
The Practice
When I teach in Mumbai and Thane, I focus on the discipline that the Hatha tradition demands. This is not a drop-in session for a quick sweat. We work on specific postures—Yogasanas—that correct alignment and bring hormonal balance.
- Yogasanas: Focus on chronic health relief and stability.
- Surya Kriya: A powerful 21-step process to align with the sun's cycles.
- Bhastrika Kriya: Specific breathwork for respiratory health and focus.
Why the Shift Matters
I treat my classes as a 'structural' project for the individual. We focus on biomechanical integrity, conscious breathing, and maintaining a silent, disciplined atmosphere. Because I limit my batches to 10-15 students, I can provide the hands-on structural adjustments that ensure you are practicing safely. If you are looking for a community that values deep inner transformation over superficial fitness trends, this path is for you.
