Legal Speaking Engagements & Law Mentorship
I share my courtroom experience and legal insights with the next generation of lawyers and activists. Let's discuss systemic reform, human rights, and the future of justice.
It was an honor to receive this plaque after my guest lecture at BITS Law School. I am pictured here with the bright students and faculty after a stimulating session on the impact of Public Interest Litigation.
Interacting with students at BITS Law School after my lecture. Answering their questions and engaging in discussion is one of the most rewarding parts of these sessions. Their curiosity and passion for justice are truly inspiring.
Speaking to students at a Mumbai college about the importance of self-confidence and continuous learning. I shared my own journey of becoming a lawyer at 48 to show them that it is never too late to pursue your passion. Your work, not your age, defines you.
At an event by the Public Concern for Governance Trust (PCGT) with IPS officer Manoj Sharma, the inspiration for the film '12th Fail'. Here I am in conversation with fellow trustees, discussing ways to inspire young minds towards public service.
On stage with top cop Julio Rebeiro and other PCGT trustees, felicitating IPS Manoj Sharma. Events like these are crucial for providing students with role models who exemplify integrity and leadership.
Attending the PCGT event at RD National College. Listening to the experiences of dedicated public servants is a powerful motivator for both students and us trustees.
This is a poster for a Facebook Live session I did with Rajasthan Patrika. I use digital platforms to connect with a wider audience and speak directly about critical issues like crimes against women.
About this collection
Academic knowledge is one thing, but navigating the courtroom reality is another. When I speak at colleges or panel discussions, I move beyond textbooks to discuss how to survive the system, manage career pivots, and use the law as a genuine tool for change. If you are looking for an honest, unfiltered perspective on the Indian justice system for your students or corporate team, this is where we begin.
My engagements are not about formal speeches. Whether I am at BITS Law School, GLC Mumbai, or speaking at PCGT events, my goal is the same: to strip away the facade and show students and professionals how the system actually works.
What I Bring to the Table
- Bridging Theory and Practice: Law schools teach the statutes, but they rarely teach you how to handle 'taarikh pe taarikh' (never-ending court dates) or institutional resistance. I discuss the hurdles of litigation, from filing complex PILs to managing media pressure.
- Career Guidance: I often share my own journey—transitioning from a civil servant to a lawyer at 48. I show young minds that your career is a marathon, not a sprint.
- Systemic Awareness: I lead deep-dive discussions on critical issues like POSH compliance, the realities of the POCSO Act, and why public interest litigation is essential for holding officials accountable.
Formats for Engagement
- Guest Lectures & Workshops: I conduct sessions for law colleges, NGOs, and student bodies on specific legal topics like constitutional rights or women's safety.
- Panel Discussions: I participate in debates on current legal controversies, bringing a perspective grounded in my work with the Rann Samar Foundation.
- Corporate Sensitization: I facilitate workshops for companies on POSH compliance and zero-tolerance policies, ensuring management understands the legal and ethical gravity of workplace harassment.
My approach is to provoke thought and encourage action. If you believe your audience is ready to move past the superficial and understand the mechanics of fighting for justice, let us connect.
Abha Singh
I transitioned from the civil services to law at 48, so I know exactly what it feels like to start from scratch. Mentoring students and engaging with young minds isn't just a duty for me; it is how I ensure the fight for justice continues long after I am gone. I speak my mind because our youth deserve the truth, not just sanitized lessons.
