Serene Residential Retreats: Designing Homes with Nature's Touch

I design homes to be sanctuaries, not just living spaces. By blending raw, organic materials with minimalist lines, I create environments where you can find true 'sukh and sukoon' and reconnect with the quiet beauty of nature.

A close-up of the live-edge dining table, showcasing the raw, natural beauty of the wood. This piece is the heart of the dining space, with its organic form contrasting beautifully against the clean lines of the Japanese-style seating and the polished marble floor.

This unique, suspended Japanese-style seating nook is a perfect corner for quiet contemplation or tea. Supported by solid wood pillars, it feels like it's floating, creating a light and serene space within the home.

A tranquil prayer and devotion nook designed within a living area. The space is framed by a simple arch and soft curtains, with a hammered metal art piece serving as a spiritual focal point. It’s a perfect example of integrating sacred spaces into daily life.

This expansive living room is designed for a feeling of openness and calm. The lime-washed walls, polished marble floors, and minimalist lighting create a serene canvas. The sculptural ceiling fans and custom wall lights act as functional art pieces.

In this powder room, I combined a rough, natural stone wall with smooth, wood-paneled surfaces. The custom pedestal sink and large circular mirror create a bold, modern statement, turning a functional space into a ritualistic experience.

This guest bedroom features a custom-designed, backlit wall mural with abstract botanical patterns. The earthy tones and soft lighting create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, while the low bed adds to the minimalist, grounded feel of the room.

A detailed view of the bathroom vanity, featuring the hand-carved petrified wood sink. This piece is a work of art, bringing an ancient, natural element into the home. It is paired with a simple wooden console and an organically shaped backlit mirror.

About this collection

I don't just furnish a room, I sculpt it. My process relies on tactile finishes—like signature lime-wash walls, raw stone accents, or custom-carved wood—to transform a standard bedroom or living area into a sensory experience. If you are looking for a space that trades urban clutter for calm, we should talk about how to bring these organic, timeless textures into your home.

The Philosophy of Calm

My approach to residential design is rooted in the belief that a home should not just be a place to live, but a vessel for peace. I draw heavily from the Zen philosophy of minimalism—what I call 'minimum form, maximum calm.' By stripping away the unnecessary, we allow the essential elements of light, wind, and material to become the focal points of your daily life.

Working with Nature's Palette

I am hands-on at every stage. You won't just get a digital render from me; you will get a space that features:

  • Tactile Textures: I use lime-wash, ferro-cement, and our signature 'touch of mud' technique to create walls that feel alive and breath with the house.
  • Raw Luxury: From petrified wood vanity sinks to live-edge solid wood dining tables, I incorporate materials in their most honest state. We seal and polish them to be functional, but their wild, original character remains intact.
  • Custom Spatial Elements: Whether it is a suspended Japanese-style seating nook for tea or a floor-to-ceiling relief wall that defines your prayer space, every piece is custom-built to fit the scale and energy of your room.

From Structure to Sanctuary

When we begin a residential project, we are creating a narrative. We look at how sunlight moves through the rooms, where the wind flows, and how your morning routine can become a ritual. My goal is to build spaces that evolve with you—homes that feel grounded, timeless, and deeply personal. Let’s collaborate to turn your vision into a sanctuary that feels like family from the moment you step through the door.

I’m Akshay. I see every home as a blank canvas waiting for a soul. My studio is a playground of mud, wood, and gold leaf, and I pour that same raw, hands-on energy into every residence I design to ensure it feels like family.
