The Artisan's Process: Behind My Design Sketches
I do not just sketch on a screen. I build, carve, and get my hands dirty. Here is a look at the raw materials and the mess behind every piece I create.
An idea in its early stages. This video shows the conceptual model for an exhibition stall inspired by the game Tetris, using simple wooden blocks to explore form and structure. Play is an essential part of my design process.
The creation of a custom moon-textured ceiling installation for a rooftop project in Ayodhya. I used my hands to sculpt the craters and texture, creating a unique piece of art that brings a celestial element to the space.
A look inside the workshop at some hand-carved wooden pieces. These traditional craft techniques are essential to my work, bringing a level of detail and human touch that cannot be replicated. These elements will soon become part of a new, interesting design.
Going back to basics with traditional woodworking. This video shows a craftsman hand-cutting a live-edge curve into a piece of wood. This careful, manual process ensures that the natural, organic shape of the wood is preserved and celebrated in the final furniture piece.
About this collection
When you see a finished table or a relief wall, you are looking at days of trial and error. My process is rarely clean or corporate because art should not be. Whether I am hand-carving a curve into a raw wood slab or sculpting a moon-like texture onto a ceiling, I prefer staying close to the material. This ensures that the grain, the texture, and the natural imperfections remain authentic, turning a standard design into something that feels alive.
My design philosophy, 'Minimum Form, Maximum calm', starts long before a piece touches your home. It begins with the raw material, such as a heavy slab of acacia or a rough river stone boulder. I do not believe in over-polishing or hiding the character of these elements. Instead, I choose to work with them, using techniques like butterfly joinery for stability or 24K gold leaf to highlight natural fissures.
This is not assembly-line production. When I hand-carve wood, I am listening to the grain. When I use lime wash or create relief walls, I am reacting to the light in your specific room. If you are looking for furniture or architectural installations that feel like they belong in nature rather than a catalog, we should talk. My studio is where these ideas go from sketches to reality, and I involve you in the selection of materials so you know exactly where your piece comes from.
