Designing Atmospheric Hospitality and Commercial Spaces
I design spaces that make customers want to stay. By blending biophilic elements with custom, raw-finish furniture, I create commercial environments that feel like a sanctuary rather than a transaction.
An evening view of the 6th Empirica rooftop, where the custom bamboo lighting and simple wooden furniture create a warm and inviting glow. The design focuses on natural materials to build a relaxed, earthy ambiance perfect for a Goan-themed escape.
As dusk settles over the 6th Empirica, the architectural lighting highlights the clean lines and natural textures of the space. The open-air design, combined with simple, elegant furniture, creates a serene setting for guests to unwind.
A close-up of the Japanese-inspired low seating nooks at 6th Empirica. The arched alcoves with integrated lighting and textured walls provide intimate spaces within the larger open-plan layout, offering guests a sense of privacy and comfort.
The interior of Sesh Delhi, designed to capture the vibrant, bohemian spirit of Goa. The ceiling is a dense tapestry of straw and woven pendant lights, creating a dramatic, immersive experience complemented by natural stone flooring and rattan furniture.
These private cabanas at Sesh Delhi offer an intimate dining experience under the stars. The domed structures, crafted from dark rattan, provide a sense of enclosure while remaining connected to the open rooftop atmosphere.
For the Sugar State bakery, I designed a space that feels both sweet and earthy. The terracotta-colored accent wall with a halo light serves as a focal point, while the minimalist bar seating and wall perforations add a touch of modern, playful geometry.
The main dining hall at Tipsy Town in Ayodhya, where classic and modern elements meet. The black-and-white checkered floor provides a bold graphic base, balanced by the warmth of tan leather seating and a woven ceiling texture.
About this collection
Creating a successful restaurant or café design is about controlling the energy of a room. In projects like Tipsy Town, I balanced the buzz of the bar with intimate, biophilic seating zones to ensure guests feel both connected and comfortable. Let’s talk about how we can map out your floor plan to improve your customer experience.
Architecture with Purpose
Designing for hospitality is not just about aesthetics. It is about creating a feeling of 'sukh and sukoon' for your patrons from the moment they walk through the door. My approach to commercial design centers on 'minimum form, maximum calm.' I focus on organic layouts that guide guest flow while using textures like lime-washed walls, natural stone, and woven bamboo to build a distinct atmosphere.
Why Material Matters in Commercial Spaces
High-traffic areas need more than just good looks. They need durability that does not sacrifice character. Whether it is a rooftop cafe or a boutique hotel lobby, I select materials that age beautifully. I often incorporate:
- Biophilic Elements: Integrating indoor greenery and natural lighting to reduce stress and increase dwell time.
- Custom Furniture: From live-edge dining tables to sculptural banquettes, each piece is designed for your specific space constraints.
- Feature Walls: Using techniques like our 'touch of mud' or sculptural relief work to create strong brand focal points without relying on mass-produced art.
A Hands-on Approach to Execution
I do not just hand over drawings. I believe in the 'kulbulahat' that comes from being on-site. I work with the artisans, oversee the material selection, and ensure the lighting design is spot on. If you are building a restaurant, cafe, or retail space, I am here to help you translate your brand vision into a physical space that feels authentic, raw, and timeless. Let us build something that your customers will remember.
