Murals with a Message: Art for Communities & Schools
I paint murals that do more than just decorate—they start conversations, build community, and hold stories of healing. From school walls to local centers, let’s turn your space into a place that feels like home.
This mural is my most favourite creation. Painted in a village in Bihar, it holds the stories of the young girls I worked with, my own childhood memories, and a world of possibilities we imagined together. This is why I paint: to bring stories to life on walls, creating art with and for the community.
"Unbound We Rise Together." Painted on a university canteen wall in Itanagar, this mural is a bold, unapologetic hope for collective freedom. It’s a reminder that our strength lies in rising together, breaking the visible and invisible chains that bind us.
"हर शरीर को आज़ादी का हक़ है" (Every body has a right to freedom). I painted this mural on a school wall in the mountains of Arunachal Pradesh. It’s a simple but powerful hope that our bodies can exist with freedom, movement, and expression, without fear or shame.
Remember pinky promises? This mural in a school in Yachuli, Arunachal Pradesh, is filled with promises from students to make the world a safer place. It was a beautiful process of growing as an artist and co-creating a message of hope with the community.
My first mural of 2024 was a 75-foot wall for World Water Day in Gurugram. It was a joy to facilitate a painting drive where enthusiastic volunteers came together, got their hands dirty, and helped create public art that raises awareness.
"पढ़ेगा हर बच्चा, बढ़ेगा हर बच्चा." This mural at a Children and Youth Resource Center in Sonipat, Haryana, imagines a world of learning and growth. The tree of knowledge represents a safe space for children to dream and express themselves.
Giving wings to dreams. This mural, painted for a learning center in Kirari, New Delhi, is about the power of education to help us fly. It was a joy to create this with the children who use the space.
"Beyond Violence, Towards Hope." This was the first mural I painted for the Travelling Arts and Film Festival in Arunachal Pradesh. It set the tone for the festival with a positive affirmation, a heart growing towards peace and hope.
"All Places Should Be Safe Spaces." This mural in Seppa, Arunachal Pradesh, carries a simple hope for safety and inclusion for everyone. Painting the progress pride flag was made even more special by sharing the moment with a dear friend.
"Love For All." In Ziro Valley, I painted this mural on a One Stop Center wall. It represents different kinds of people and celebrates love that crosses all boundaries, including a tribute to the local Apatani tribe.
About Murals with a Message: Art for Communities & Schools
I don't just paint on your wall; I paint with your community. Whether it's students, office teams, or neighbors, I facilitate painting drives where everyone leaves their handprint. If you want a mural that is not just visually stunning but also fosters a sense of 'apnapan' (belonging) for everyone who walks past it, let's talk about the story your wall wants to tell.
How We Co-Create Your Mural
My approach to public art is rooted in collaboration. I believe that when people see their own stories reflected on a wall, that space becomes truly theirs. My process is designed to turn your blank canvas into a shared landmark:
- The Storytelling Workshop: We start with a 60-90 minute consultation. I want to understand your values, the community using the space, and the 'why' behind the project. We move beyond just choosing colours to defining the message.
- Collaborative Design: Based on our chat, I develop 2-3 concept sketches. Once we finalize the direction, we prepare for the execution phase.
- Painting Drives: This is where the magic happens. I facilitate sessions where staff, students, or community members pick up the brushes. Your handprints, your suggestions, and your stories shape the final artwork.
Why Community Art Matters
Whether it's a school corridor in New Delhi, an NGO office, or a community center, murals have the power to transform the vibe of a space. My work with schools in Arunachal Pradesh and youth centers in Haryana has shown me that art isn't just decoration; it's a tool for education, inclusion, and healing.
Technical Details & Durability
I use high-quality materials to ensure your mural lasts, even in high-traffic public areas. I apply professional-grade emulsions and finish every piece with a protective varnish coating, making the art resistant and easy to clean. If you have a specific wall in mind—be it a school, a community hall, or an office space—I am ready to help you bring that vision to life.
