Anupama: Storytelling Murals and Custom Canvas Art
I paint because that is how I make sense of things. Welcome to my world of colours, where walls and canvases become spaces for stories of freedom, healing, and community.
This mural is my most favourite creation. Painted in a village in Bihar, it holds the stories of the young girls I worked with, my own childhood memories, and a world of possibilities we imagined together. This is why I paint: to bring stories to life on walls, creating art with and for the community.
This 2x3 feet Pichwai-inspired painting took over 30 hours of dedicated work in my Delhi studio. It was my biggest commission, a journey that started with a simple conversation and grew into a world on canvas, now living in its new home.
There's a special kind of peace I find painting by the water. This moment in Udaipur, with my sketchbook and colours, is what my art is all about: capturing the feeling of a place and holding onto it.
Every detail matters. Here, I'm adding the finishing touches to a custom Pichwai painting. This is where I get lost in the process, ensuring every line and colour tells the client's story with care and precision.
"हर शरीर को आज़ादी का हक़ है" (Every body has a right to freedom). I painted this mural on a school wall in the mountains of Arunachal Pradesh. It’s a simple but powerful hope that our bodies can exist with freedom, movement, and expression, without fear or shame.
This is me at the Aham Festival, surrounded by my art. It can be nerve-wracking to put your heart on display, but the conversations and connections I make with people who see their own stories in my work make it all worth it.
Sometimes, I'm just a tired, lonely artist. In those moments, I hug my paintings. They are a part of me, just living outside my body, and they always feel like coming home.

- Wall Murals: I transform offices, cafes, and homes into sanctuaries of expression. I focus on storytelling, using durable emulsions and finishing each piece with a protective varnish. Whether you want a minimal design or a chaotic, colourful narrative, I am all in.
- Custom Canvas Commissions: If you are looking for something smaller, I create original paintings on canvas or 300 GSM paper. From Pichwai-inspired pieces to abstract emotions, these works are designed to be personal heirlooms.
- Interactive Art: I love painting tiny characters on switchboards and AC vents. It is about adding magic to the utility spots we ignore every day.
