Yogalates Fusion: Strengthen Your Core and Find Balance
Discover the perfect harmony of Yoga and Pilates. I blend biomechanical precision with mindful movement to help you build real strength, stability, and inner calm.
This is where Yogalates comes to life. A fusion of Acro-Yoga stability and Pilates chair strength, this sequence requires complete trust, core control, and communication. It's a powerful demonstration of what's possible when we blend different disciplines.
I've adapted the traditional yoga Suryanamaskar, or Sun Salutation, for the Pilates chair. This flow combines dynamic lunges and planks to build heat, improve flexibility, and connect breath with movement in a truly unique way.
This is a core ignition flow on the Pilates reformer, featuring the Jackrabbit and Pike combination. I use the moving carriage to challenge stability, articulate the spine, and build deep abdominal strength with precise, controlled movements.
Here I demonstrate the transition into Bakasana, or Crane Pose. This arm balance is a test of upper body strength, core engagement, and mental focus, teaching you to find lightness and lift by distributing weight correctly.
The Dead Bug exercise is fundamental for building a bulletproof core. Lying on the Pilates box, I extend opposite arms and legs, which trains neuromuscular coordination and strengthens deep abdominal muscles while keeping the spine stable and neutral.
Finding stillness by the ocean. I believe you should not be a slave to your mind, but make your mind your slave. This is the essence of meditation: finding inner peace and control, no matter the external environment.
About Featured
Many people think Yoga and Pilates are opposites, but when you combine them, they unlock a deeper level of control. In this fusion style, I focus on the Pilates 'powerhouse'—your core—while using Yoga flows to ensure that strength translates into functional flexibility. You will not just build muscle; you will learn how to move with intention, whether we are using the Reformer for deep resistance or a mat for fluid mobility.
My Yogalates practice is built on the philosophy of Kaizen, the idea that getting 1% better every day is what leads to real transformation. When you look at the movements featured here, you will notice they aren't about brute force. They are about precision.
The Science of the Blend
In my sessions, we integrate the biomechanical structure of Pilates with the deep stretching and breath-work of Yoga. For example, when we work on the Reformer, we focus on spinal articulation and deep abdominal engagement with moves like the Jackrabbit or Pike. This builds stability. We then transition to the mat to apply that strength to fluid Yoga poses like Bakasana (Crane Pose), which requires balance and mental focus.
Where We Train
I operate out of Kaizen Wellness Space in Miramar, Panaji, where I have access to full studio apparatus including Reformers, chairs, and the Cadillac. If you cannot make it to the studio in Goa, I bring this same level of focus to online 1:1 sessions, guiding you through mat-based flows that use your home space effectively.
Why This Approach Works
- For the Body: We move away from bulky muscle building. Instead, we aim for lean strength, improved posture, and a spine that feels mobile rather than stiff.
- For the Mind: Each session is a 'work-in'. By syncing your breath with the intensity of the movement, we lower stress levels and cultivate true sukoon, or peace.
Whether you are a complete beginner or an athlete, the core principles remain the same. We train with purpose, we adjust for your specific body history, and we build a practice that sustains you for the long term.
