Most people walk into the studio thinking Zumba is purely for fun. It is fun, but it is also a structured HIIT workout. Whether it is engaging your core or protecting your knees during high-impact jumps, how you move matters. I do not just teach dance; I teach you to use your body efficiently so you get results without the risk of injury. If you have any specific concerns about your fitness level or prior injuries, we address those before the music even starts.

The Science of the 'Party Workout'

Zumba is often misunderstood as just 'dance.' In reality, it is a metabolic conditioning workout. When you are in my studio, we are not just swaying; we are training.

  • Strength & Cardio Integration: Every track is designed to spike your heart rate (cardio) while using controlled, repetitive movements that engage your quads, glutes, and core (strength). That is why you leave feeling worked out, not just entertained.

Why Technique Matters

I am the instructor who will stop the music if your form is off. It might feel strict, but this is how we prevent the common issues that plague self-taught dancers: knee pain, lower back strain, and poor posture.

  • The Warm-Up: This is non-negotiable. It is where we prime your muscles and prepare your joints for the intensity to come. Skipping this is how injuries happen, and that is not going to happen in my class.
  • The Cool-Down: We do not just run out of the door when the music stops. That last 5-10 minutes is critical to lower your heart rate safely and flush out lactic acid. It is your time to breathe and let your body reset.

People ask me, 'Shikha, can I do this if I am not a dancer?' The answer is yes. My batches are capped at 25 people so I can provide personal form correction.
