It's a beautiful sight to see so many hands reaching for the sky. In my group sessions, I focus on creating a space where children can move freely and joyfully together. This isn't about perfect poses, but about building stamina and coordination through playful, aerobic activities that leave everyone smiling.
Here, during a session at a local school, I'm guiding the children through a new movement. My classes are designed to be interactive and fun, helping kids build body awareness and learn to manage their energy in a positive, healthy way.
Even in a group, each child's journey is unique. I love seeing their focus and engagement as they follow along. These simple, yoga-inspired stretches help build their strength and confidence, laying a foundation for an active life.
About Group Fitness for Schools & Communities
When I work with large groups, I prioritize high-energy movement like animal walks and cardio games to keep everyone engaged, whereas my smaller batches allow me to guide kids through specific floor asanas and breathwork with hands-on adjustments.
Teaching fitness to children requires a balance of structure and freedom. For larger school groups, I move away from mat-based yoga and focus on aerobic drills and rhythm, which helps build stamina without the pressure of achieving perfect alignment. It is about letting them find their rhythm through games and simple mimicry. For smaller, semi-private groups, we slow down. This is where I introduce the foundations of asana, focusing on safety, posture correction, and learning how to breathe correctly. We practice grounding techniques that help them manage their energy throughout the day, something I call the 'work-in' rather than just a workout. Every session, regardless of size, is about helping kids develop a positive relationship with their bodies. Some days are high energy, and some days require stillness. I adapt my approach to the vibe of the group, ensuring that they leave each class feeling a bit more centered and connected.
