Therapeutic Yoga Classes for Back Pain Relief

Restore comfort and mobility with our Iyengar-inspired therapeutic sessions. We use props to decompress, align, and safely support your back.

An instructor provides a hands on adjustment in Urdhva Dhanurasana, or Wheel Pose. This careful guidance helps the student lift and open their chest safely, ensuring the backbend is distributed evenly along the spine to prevent strain.

A student demonstrates great progress in her Wheel Pose. Consistent practice has built the strength in her arms and legs and the flexibility in her spine to hold this deep backbend with grace and stability.

Dhanurasana, or Bow Pose, is a powerful backbend that strengthens the entire back of the body while stretching the chest, shoulders, and abdomen. This pose is excellent for improving posture and energizing the body.

A student in our Backbend Bliss Workshop uses a strap to work on her Bow Pose. The strap provides leverage, allowing her to deepen the backbend and open her shoulders more effectively while maintaining control.

In this workshop, a student practices Supta Padangusthasana with a strap. This supported hamstring stretch is excellent for releasing tension in the lower back and improving flexibility in the legs.

Our workshop participants explore various heart opening poses. This image captures a moment of deep stretching and release, with students at different levels using props to support their individual practice.

This video shows the healing power of yoga in action. From restorative forward bends with bolsters to supported inversions against the wall, each movement is designed to be therapeutic, calming the nervous system and restoring balance.

About this collection

We don't just ask you to stretch; we use wall ropes, bolsters, and benches to create passive traction. This support takes the weight off your spine, allowing your muscles to release tension without the risk of over-stretching or further injury. In our sessions, you aren't just following a flow—you are working with equipment designed to make poses accessible regardless of your current stiffness or pain level.

Our Approach to Back Care

At YogAngle, we view yoga as jeevan jeene ki kala (the art of living), and nowhere is this more evident than in our therapeutic work for the spine. We follow the Iyengar method, which prioritizes precision and alignment over speed. If you have been struggling with chronic back pain, slipped discs, or stiffness, you know that standard gym-style yoga can sometimes do more harm than good. That is why we focus on 'passive' yoga.

Why Props Are Essential

Many people think yoga requires a flexible body, but we believe it requires the right support. We use:

  • Wall Ropes: To provide spinal traction, gently creating space between vertebrae.
  • Bolsters & Blankets: To support the body during restorative poses, allowing muscles to relax deeply.
  • Benches & Wheels: To guide you into backbends safely, distributing the weight evenly so your lower back doesn't take the full brunt of the movement.

The YogAngle Difference in Vile Parle

We keep our group therapy batches small, between 8 to 10 students. This ensures that when you are on the mat, an instructor is watching your alignment. We want you to feel the release, not the strain. Whether you are recovering from an injury or just dealing with the daily desk-job slump, our sequence changes weekly—from standing work to restorative pranayama—to ensure your body learns to move with ease again. You are not just joining a class; you are starting a journey back to a pain-free, balanced body.

I'm the lead instructor at YogAngle. I started this space because I wanted yoga to feel like home—where it doesn't matter if you can't touch your toes, only how you feel getting there. We use the Iyengar tradition to make sure every pose is safe, aligned, and actually helpful for your body.
