Strength & Endurance Training for Tennis Players
Tennis isn't just about the racket. Build the raw athletic power, stamina, and agility you need to dominate the court from the first serve to the final point.
Endurance is non-negotiable. We take the training off the court with running and bodyweight exercises like squats to build the cardiovascular base and leg stamina required for long, grueling matches.
The bear crawl is a fantastic full-body exercise we use to build core stability and upper body strength without any equipment. This kind of functional strength is key for powerful shots and injury prevention.
Strength training starts early. Here, my youngest trainees are learning different pushup variations, building foundational upper body and core strength while having some fun.
I lead by example. Here I am during my own gym session, working on back and shoulder strength. A strong upper body is essential for generating racquet head speed for powerful serves and groundstrokes.
About Strength & Endurance Training
We don't just stand around hitting balls. My sessions combine high-intensity court drills with focused off-court strength work because tennis requires more than just technique. You will be pushed through bear crawls, plank variations, and resistance band work, all designed to make you faster, more explosive, and durable for those long three-set matches.
Why Strength Training Matters
Many players think tennis fitness is just about running until you drop. That is wrong. Tennis is a game of explosive bursts, quick stops, and sudden changes in direction. If your core isn't stable or your glutes aren't firing, your groundstrokes will lose power, and your legs will give up long before the match is decided. My program at Xtreme Tennis Academy is built on the philosophy of 'Mehnat kar paseena baha' (Work hard, sweat).
What You Will Actually Do
- Agility & Movement: We use cone patterns, ladders, and reaction drills to sharpen your footwork. You need to be light on your feet to recover for that next forehand.
- Core & Stability: Expect intensive planks, yoga-inspired stretches, and bodyweight movements. A strong core is the engine room for every serve and smash you hit.
- Functional Strength: We use resistance bands for lateral movement and bodyweight circuits to ensure you have the endurance to outlast any opponent on the court.
The Setup
These sessions are conducted on both hard and acrylic courts in Dwarka. Whether you are a tournament player needing competitive conditioning or an adult looking to get back in shape, I keep the groups small so I can yell, push, and correct your form. If you are looking for an easy session where you barely break a sweat, this is not the place for you. If you want to train like a champion, I have a spot for you.
