Behind the Curtains: The Making of Magic at Vyoma
A performance is just the final act. Step inside to see the real work: the rehearsals, the creative chaos, and the hands-on workshops where our stories truly come to life.

About Behind the Curtains: The Making of Magic
You won't just watch plays here, you will see how they get made. Whether it is our young 'putta puttis' painting their own masks or adults learning the intricacies of stage lighting, our studio is a laboratory for creativity. If you are curious about the mechanics of theatre, from scriptwriting to technical design, this is where the learning starts.
At Vyoma, we believe that the process is just as important as the performance. A theatre production is a complex beast, involving hundreds of small, intentional choices. In this cluster, we pull back the curtain to show you the 'behind-the-scenes' reality of our black-box space in JP Nagar.
The Learning Process
Suno toh sahi (listen to this), theatre is not just about memorizing lines. It is about understanding the space, the light, and the team. Our workshops for kids and adults focus on the 'how' rather than just the 'what'. You will see:
- Technical Training: Hands-on sessions with lighting design and sound, where students learn how to set the mood for a scene.
- Crafting & Props: From mask-making workshops to building sets from sustainable materials, our participants learn to work with their hands.
- The Ensemble: The heart of our studio. We emphasize group dynamics, trust-building exercises, and the collaborative nature of theatre.
Why a Black-Box Space?
Our studio is a black-box theatre, which means it is a flexible, intimate space. There is nowhere to hide! This forces actors to be authentic and encourages a raw, honest connection with the audience. When you are in our workshops, you are not just learning to act, you are learning to be present. Whether you are six or sixty, we invite you to shed your inhibitions, experiment with new skills, and find your voice. We have had Kannada plays, Tamil standup, and English thrillers all grace this floor. Every event leaves behind a trail of lessons, and we are here to help you start your own journey.
Vyoma Artspace
We are just a team of artists who believe in the power of expression. We have built this space in JP Nagar to be a second home for anyone, child or adult, who wants to create, learn, and grow. Come over, stay a while, and let's make something beautiful together.
