Honest Portfolio Reviews & Design Mentorship
I help you bridge the gap between academic projects and professional industry work with honest, constructive feedback.
I enjoy helping the next generation of artists find their footing. In this photo, I'm reviewing a student's portfolio at Atlas Skilltech University, offering feedback to help them connect their creative projects with real-world industry expectations.
About Portfolio Reviews & Mentorship
In our 60-minute session, we will not spend time on vague praise. I sit with you to walk through 3 to 5 of your projects, focusing specifically on the gap between your university assignments and professional design standards. We examine your portfolio with a critical eye, ensuring your work actually demonstrates the skills that hiring managers in the industry are looking for today.
Bridging the Academic-Industry Gap
Many talented designers leave college with great projects but struggle to show them in a way that resonates with employers. My goal in these reviews is simple: to help you see your own work from the perspective of a hiring manager or a client.
What to Expect
- Project Deep-Dive: We look at 3-5 specific projects. I evaluate them based on clarity, your creative process, and how effectively you solve the design problem.
- Industry Context: We discuss the difference between creating work to get an 'A' and creating work that gets you hired. This often involves looking at your UI/UX, illustration style, or character design through a professional lens.
- Actionable Steps: You walk away with clear, specific improvements. After the call, I send a summary email with 3-5 concrete points we discussed that you can implement immediately.
Why Mentorship Matters
I’ve balanced my own illustration work with design roles at companies like Smallcase. I know how intimidating it can be to transition from a student sketchbook to a professional environment. Whether you are struggling with creative blocks, pricing your freelance work, or simply don't know if your portfolio is ready for the market, I offer the perspective I wish I had when I was starting out.
Logistics
- Duration: 60 minutes of focused, one-on-one time.
- Format: We can meet virtually via Zoom or Google Meet, or in-person if you are based in the Mumbai suburbs.
- Preparation: Send over your work beforehand so we can dive straight into the conversation.
