A look at my feature in Design India magazine and the stories behind my work.

The cover of Design India's 'Change Makers' issue, Pool 134, where my work was featured. Seeing my name on the cover of a respected design magazine was a truly humbling moment.

The opening spread of my feature, titled 'Beyond the comfort zone'. It showcases my illustration 'God of small things' and introduces my journey as a professional illustrator.

An inside look at the magazine article, where some of my other illustrations are shown alongside an interview. I discuss my inspirations and how art can be a powerful voice for social issues.

A close up of the magazine cover, showing my name listed among other talented Indian designers and artists. I am grateful for the recognition and the platform to share my work.

About Press & Recognition

The Design India feature was a reminder of why I started. In the interview, I discussed how the 'God of small things' illustration came to be. It was not planned. It was a late-night response to the noise around us, proving that sometimes the rawest work connects the deepest.

Being featured in Design India's 'Change Makers' issue was a humbling moment. It allowed me to step back and articulate why I moved away from digital-only workflows. In the article, I explore the 'Fintech-Design Bridge' and why I believe sketching remains vital in an era of AI-generated content.

My work often starts in my sketchbooks. Whether I am at a coffee shop in Mumbai or working on a custom project, I focus on the 'why' before the 'how'. This philosophy guides my workshops and design talks, where I encourage students to move past the fear of perfection. When I speak at design colleges or conduct workshops, my goal is to bridge the gap between academic projects and the realities of the professional industry.

I believe art is a conversation. If you look closely at my work, you will see a mix of urban themes, social observations, and personal experiments. I am always open to discussing new illustration projects, collaborative murals, or design industry talks. My process is always transparent, and I am happy to share the journey from the first pencil stroke to the final piece.

I'm Shirish. When I’m not sketching in my Mumbai studio, I’m likely talking about why the analog process matters in a digital world. You will find me hosting creative workshops or reviewing portfolios, trying to make the design field a little more human.
