A Day in Paradise: Life at the VOSD Sanctuary
We are a no-kill sanctuary home for 1,800+ dogs that the world rejected. See the reality of their daily lives, from feeding times to recovery, in our 7-acre facility.
Mealtime is the happiest time of day. Here, our caregivers distribute fresh food to hundreds of eager dogs in one of our many enclosures. This scene repeats itself across our 7-acre sanctuary twice a day.
It takes a team to feed an army. Our staff lovingly prepares over 3 tons of food daily, mixing rice, chicken, and supplements to ensure every dog receives a nutritious meal.
Buckets of love, ready to be served. This is just a fraction of the food prepared for a single meal service. The scale of our feeding operation is immense, and it's essential for the health of our 1800+ residents.
Watch the organized chaos of mealtime prep as our team quickly and efficiently sets out hundreds of bowls for our hungry residents. It's a race against time and wagging tails.
A caregiver serves a meal, surrounded by patiently waiting dogs. This bond of trust between our dogs and our team is at the heart of everything we do.
A quiet moment during feeding time. Even in a large pack, each dog finds their own space to enjoy their meal in peace.
Two dogs enjoy their meal in front of a colorful mural at the sanctuary. We believe in creating a positive and cheerful environment for our dogs to heal and live in.
A wide view of one of our night shelters, where dogs sleep peacefully in their individual tyre beds. This ensures every dog has a clean, dry, and personal space to rest.
Some dogs prefer to stretch out on the cool floor, while others curl up in their beds. At VOSD, they have the freedom to choose what makes them comfortable. This is their home.
A big yawn after a satisfying meal. This relaxed and content dog is a picture of peace at the sanctuary. After the hardships they've faced, these moments of calm are priceless.
About A Day in Paradise: Life at the Sanctuary
Every day, our team prepares 3 tons of fresh food in our industrial kitchen for over 1,800 residents. This is not just about feeding them, it is a vital daily operation that ensures every dog, from our paralyzed seniors to our blind trauma survivors, receives the nutrition they need to live with dignity.
Running an operation of this scale requires more than just compassion. It demands a complex, high-pressure infrastructure. Across 7 acres, our team manages 1,800+ residents who require varying levels of care, ranging from specialized dietary management to daily sanitation.
Our housing is designed for longevity, not temporary occupancy. We use recycled tyres for beds, which provide insulation and comfort, ensuring every dog has their own personal, clean space to sleep. This simple adaptation is part of how we make a massive environment feel like a home.
Because we house 1,800+ dogs, health management is our highest priority. Our on-site hospital is open 24/7, equipped with X-ray, ultrasound, and surgical suites. This allows us to handle everything from routine sterilizations to emergency trauma cases without the logistical nightmare of transporting sick dogs into the city.
We don't do this for the photo opportunities. We do this because the world continues to abandon dogs with medical needs, physical disabilities, and behavioral trauma. When you see these photos, you are looking at a system built on one principle: yes. We say yes when everyone else says no.
