Our Architectural Design and Build Process

Every project is a journey from a raw sketch to a finished home. See how we blend tradition and modern design through our step by step construction process.

The "Before and After" of Sa Sha Villa is a perfect example of my renovation process. I completely overhauled the exterior and interior to create a modern, light-filled home, demonstrating the dramatic impact of thoughtful architectural and interior design.

Join me for a personal tour of Kuttiyil House, where I explain the thinking behind the design. This video gives insight into my collaborative process with clients and how I translate their needs into a physical space that is both beautiful and functional.

This clip from the Restaurant Chef Pillai project shows the space during construction. It reveals the structural work and careful preservation of heritage elements that form the foundation of the final design, offering a behind-the-scenes look at an adaptive reuse project.

About this collection

Before we finalize any floor plan, I insist on a comprehensive site study, especially for renovations. It is not just about aesthetics, but understanding how the original structure has settled and how we can integrate modern plumbing and electrical lines without disturbing the core foundation. This upfront diligence is exactly why my structural restoration projects remain stable and sound for decades.

Architecture is rarely just about what you see on the surface. When I start a project, whether it is a new villa or the adaptive reuse of an old building, the process follows a rhythm that respects both the land and the materials.

The Site and Concept

Every project begins with listening. I spend significant time on site to understand the light, the wind, and the history of the soil. For our heritage restoration projects, this involves a structural audit to determine which elements, like laterite walls or timber trusses, can be saved and strengthened using modern techniques like crack stitching or chemical damp-proofing.

Technical Execution

We do not hide our process. If you visit a site during the build, you will see us prioritizing core infrastructure before we touch the finishes. This means concealed VRV air-conditioning systems, fire-retardant wiring, and specialized grease traps for our commercial hospitality projects are all mapped out early. We focus on natural ventilation and light, ensuring that even modern additions like steel frameworks or glass facades feel like they belong in a traditional courtyard setting.

Materials with Soul

I am intentional about the materials we select. You will see authentic laterite, exposed brick, and terracotta tiles because they age gracefully. We avoid fake finishes. By the time we reach the stage of selecting light fixtures or installing Athangudi tiles, the house already has a personality. Whether we are building a resort in Kumarakom or an apartment in Bangalore, the goal is the same: to create a space that feels like a natural extension of your lifestyle, not just a structure imposed on the land.
