Building Strength and Advanced Yoga Skills
Developing core strength and stability is a journey, not a race. Whether your child is working toward their first Bakasana or refining a tripod headstand, I focus on safe, step-by-step progressions to build lasting confidence.
It's amazing to see my students build such incredible strength and focus. This video shows a seamless transition from a headstand variation into Bakasana, or Crow Pose. This sequence demonstrates the core strength, balance, and coordination we develop in my classes.
This is my student mastering the Tripod Headstand, an inversion that builds shoulder strength, improves focus, and brings a sense of calm. We approach advanced poses like this step by step, ensuring the student builds the necessary strength and confidence to perform it correctly.
I always teach that success is built on effort and persistence. This is my own practice of Bakasana (Crow Pose), a pose that requires patience and hard work. I share my journey with my students to show them that continuous improvement is more important than immediate perfection.
My personal practice is key to my teaching. Here I am moving through an advanced backbend sequence, which improves spinal flexibility and opens the chest. This dedication to my own skills ensures I can guide my students through their own yoga journey with expertise.
About Building Strength & Advanced Skills
Advanced inversions like the tripod headstand or Bakasana (Crow Pose) look effortless in photos, but they are built on months of micro-progressions. In my classes, we do not rush these poses. We focus on shoulder stability and core engagement first, ensuring the foundation is solid before attempting the full expression of the asana.
Building a Solid Foundation
Real strength in yoga is not about how deep you can go into a pose; it is about how much control you maintain while you are there. When we work on advanced skills, we start by understanding the anatomy of the pose.
- Shoulder & Core Stability: For poses like Bakasana, your wrist and core strength are vital. We practice drills that wake up these muscles before we ever lift our feet off the ground.
- Safe Progression: Every student is unique. We move from foundational strength to intermediate balance, and only then to advanced inversions like the Sirsasana (Headstand).
- The 'Play Way' Method: For younger students, we use games to build this strength. They do not realize they are working their core while engaging in fun, structured movement.
Why Technique Matters
Whether you are practicing online from your home or in a group session in Greater Noida, my priority is the same: safety. I keep class sizes small or use real-time feedback in 1:1 sessions to ensure your alignment is correct.
'Yog se aap apne jeevan me sthirta la sakte hai' (Through yoga, you can bring stability into your life). When you build the strength to hold a difficult pose, you are building the mental focus to handle challenges off the mat, too. We prioritize consistency over intensity, helping you achieve lasting improvements rather than risking injury for quick wins.
