The Guru-Shishya Parampara: The Sacred Bond
Dhanurvidya is a science of the mind, not just a skill. Here, we honor the ancient bond that ensures the transmission and preservation of this sacred art.
A disciple receives the bow from his Guru. This is a symbolic act of accepting the responsibility to learn, practice with devotion, and uphold the honor of the lineage.
A student kneels to receive instruction, an embodiment of humility and readiness to learn. I guide each student's hand, ensuring the correct form is felt, not just seen.
"In the Dhanurveda, the guru's teachings are always meditated upon by the student." I lead my students not just in practice, but in the warrior's way of life, walking the path with them.
About The Guru-Shishya Parampara: The Sacred Bond
When you step into our Gurukulam, you are not just a student, you are a shishya. The ritual of receiving the bow from my hands is a moment of total commitment. It is where you move from theory into practice, accepting the weight of the tradition alongside the weapon. This is where your transformation begins.
Dhanurvidya is never merely learned from books. It is a living, breathing transmission of knowledge from Guru to Shishya. In our 11-day residential Acharya Shiksha Varga, this relationship forms the bedrock of your training. You will live the Vedic way, which means abandoning the distractions of modern life to focus entirely on the sharpening of your mind and body.
We structure our intensive program to mirror the ancient Gurukulam lifestyle. Days begin with meditation and yoga, transitioning into the rigorous physical demands of 7 primary stances, or Sthanakas. You are not only learning how to aim; you are learning how to breathe, how to stand with purpose, and how to control your focus.
Whether you join us in Tirupati, Hyderabad, or Vizianagaram, you are expected to immerse yourself fully. The warrior philosophy is at the core of every drill. We study texts like the Ramayana and Mahabharat to understand what it means to be a Veer, or a protector of truth. This is not for those seeking a quick weekend hobby. This is for seekers ready to embrace discipline, satvik meals, and the demanding reality of mastering themselves. By the end of this journey, you are not just an archer. You are a potential bearer of this wisdom, equipped to pass it forward with integrity.
