Commercial styling is about translating a brand’s vision into an authentic visual language. I work closely with your creative team to ensure every outfit aligns with your campaign narrative.
As the costume designer for this Infinix India commercial featuring Jim Sarbh, my role was to create looks that fit the narrative of the ad. This involved selecting outfits that were modern and aligned with the brand's tech-savvy image.
About Brand & Commercial Campaigns
When working on a commercial set, I do not just provide clothes. I collaborate directly with the DOP and director to understand how lighting and movement interact with fabric. This means we avoid technical issues like fabric glare or fits that limit a model's range of motion, ensuring the wardrobe supports the camera's vision without distraction.
Commercial styling requires a different mindset than editorial work. While editorial focuses on artistic freedom, commercial projects demand that the wardrobe supports the brand identity without distracting from the message. Whether it is an ad campaign for a tech product or a lifestyle shoot, my process begins with clear creative direction.
I develop a detailed reference deck that includes lighting cues and pose constraints so the styling supports the photographer’s vision. For recent projects, such as the Infinix India campaign featuring Jim Sarbh, this meant balancing a tech-forward image with wardrobe choices that felt natural rather than forced.
My role covers the entire logistics chain:
- Creative Direction: Defining the vibe, silhouettes, and color palettes.
- Volume Sourcing: Pulling 8 to 10 outfit options for distinct looks.
- On-Set Monitoring: Managing outfit swaps, steaming garments, and adjusting fabric fall between shots.
I operate with a Senior Stylist and Fashion Assistant to handle the fast-paced nature of commercial sets. We bring our own stylist kits with industrial-grade tapes and tools, so you do not lose time managing wardrobe malfunctions.
