Pen & Ink Caricatures
I use a distinct hatch-line technique to capture personality and quirks in every pen and ink caricature. Whether for a unique gift or corporate appreciation, each piece is hand-drawn to tell a story.
This commissioned caricature was drawn with color pens on A3 paper. The cross-hatching technique adds a lot of texture and personality. Adding a small detail like the Eiffel Tower makes it even more personal for the client.
A happy client with his framed caricature. It’s always wonderful to see the final artwork ready to be gifted or displayed. These custom caricatures are a fun way to celebrate someone's personality and interests.
Part of a series I created for a company that was rewarding its employees. This caricature celebrates "The Office Einstein," using a theme that reflects the person's strengths at work. It's a fun and creative way to show appreciation.
Another piece from the corporate caricature series, this one for "The Helper." The "Mai Hoon Na" t-shirt adds a fun, cinematic touch. These themed caricatures are a great way to boost team morale.
For "The Hungry Hippo" of the office, this caricature was all about fun and food. These personalized artworks are always a hit because they capture a unique and relatable trait of the individual.
The "Workaholic" caricature, complete with multiple arms for multitasking. This style is created with pens and brush pens, which allows for both fine lines and bold color fills.
A "King Bee" caricature, celebrating a team leader. The theme is built around the person's role, making it a very specific and thoughtful piece of art.
The "Joker" of the group, this caricature is all about bringing fun and laughter. The bright colors and playful theme were a joy to create using my signature pen and ink style.
A "Mad Max" themed caricature, created for an employee as part of a corporate rewards program. It's always fun to blend a person's likeness with a pop culture character to create something truly unique.
About Pen & Ink Caricatures
When we start a pen and ink caricature, I do not just focus on the face; I look for the story behind it. To get the best result, share a few anecdotes or habits—like a hobby, a catchphrase, or a specific accessory—that define the person. This allows me to weave those details into the illustration, turning a simple portrait into a conversation piece that feels personal to you.
My pen and ink caricatures are born from a specific hatch-line technique. This method allows me to build texture and shadow using nothing but ink, creating a distinct, tactile look that feels more like a raw sketch than a polished graphic.
The Process
I work primarily with professional-grade pens and brush pens on A4 paper. Because I don't use digital filters or auto-generation, every line is deliberate. If you look closely at my work, you will see how I layer lines to create the volume and depth of an expression. It is a slow, methodical process, but it ensures that every smirk, wrinkle, or joyful feature is captured with intent.
Why Pen and Ink?
This style is particularly effective for:
- Corporate Rewards: I have created entire series for manufacturing firms in Bangalore, where the caricatures were designed to reflect an employee's specific 'superpower' at work, such as the office helper or the constant multi-tasker.
- Personal Keepsakes: These sketches are ideal for those who prefer an artistic, hand-drawn aesthetic over a high-gloss photo.
- Gifting: Because they are compact and unique, they make excellent framed gifts that stand out on a desk or wall.
Important Logistics
Since these are physical drawings on paper, I package them securely to ensure they arrive flat and undamaged. I ship from my studio in Bengaluru to anywhere in India. If you have a group request or a bulk commission for an office event, please reach out with enough lead time so I can maintain the quality of every single sketch.
