My Musical Journey: Tabla Performances and Collaborations
Beyond the studio, music is a journey of constant discovery. Here are glimpses from my travels, teaching moments, and the stages I have shared with fellow artists across the globe.

About On The Road: Glimpses from My Musical Journey
The life of a working musician is rarely just the music itself. It is the careful packing of flight-ready instruments, the long hours during soundchecks to get the mic placement just right, and the unexpected magic of jamming with a new collaborator minutes before going on stage. When you bring me on board for your event or project, you are getting this full commitment. I treat every gig, whether it is a corporate show in Mumbai or an international lecture, with the same attention to detail and respect for the craft.
Behind the Music
Being a traveling musician means embracing the unpredictability of the road. I have been fortunate to perform in venues ranging from intimate cultural auditoriums to large-scale festival stages, and every space presents its own unique challenge. My approach remains the same regardless of the location: prepare, adapt, and listen.
Why the Logistics Matter
When I perform, I bring the same discipline to the setup that I do to the rhythm. This includes:
- Tech Rider Compliance: I insist on specific microphone placement to ensure that the delicate highs of the Dayan and the deep resonance of the Bayan are captured perfectly.
- Instrument Care: I use flight-ready cases for all my instruments to ensure they arrive in concert-ready condition, whether the gig is in Mumbai or on the other side of the world.
- Collaborative Jamming: I love the spontaneity of live sets. Whether I am working with a jazz ensemble or a hip-hop artist, I spend time rehearsing and finding the pocket where the tabla fits naturally into the overall sound.
Sharing Knowledge
Music is a cycle of learning and teaching. I find just as much value in conducting guest lectures and workshops, like my recent sessions at NYU, as I do in performing. It keeps me grounded in the fundamentals while pushing me to explain the 'why' behind the rhythm to new audiences. If you are looking for a musician who brings both professional rigor and a deep love for the art form to your stage or recording project, let’s talk.
