About Behind the Scenes & Lessons
Correct posture and how you hold your pick are the most common stumbling blocks for beginners. We prioritize these physical adjustments in our lessons because habits formed on day one are much harder to correct later. Whether you are aiming for ABRSM certification or just want to play your favorite songs, establishing this foundation early prevents muscle strain and significantly improves your tone.
Learning music is as much about discipline as it is about creativity. At Trishan School of Music, we structure our lessons to cover the technical essentials that many self-taught players miss.
The Importance of Fundamentals
When you start, it is easy to focus only on playing a song. However, your long-term progress depends on how you handle the instrument.
- Postural Health: Poor posture can lead to fatigue or injury over long practice sessions. We teach you how to sit correctly to keep your wrists and shoulders relaxed.
- Pick Control: As shown in our tutorials, the way you grip your pick changes your control over the strings. We teach you to hold the pick firmly but comfortably, allowing for both precise strumming and fluid lead lines.
- Rhythm and Timing: We emphasize playing with a metronome from day one. Developing an internal sense of time—counting one, two, three, four—is what separates a hobbyist from a musician.
Why Structure Matters
We offer both group and private sessions at our HSR Layout, Sarjapur, and BEML Layout studios. Our curriculum is designed to be systematic. For those pursuing a professional path, we align our training with Trinity, LCM, and ABRSM syllabi, which include music theory and sight-reading. For those playing for recreation, we incorporate your favorite Bollywood or pop tracks into your training so you stay motivated.
Ultimately, our goal is to get you stage-ready. We host monthly open-mic nights where you can take the techniques you have practiced in the classroom and apply them in front of an audience. It is the best way to build confidence, manage stage nerves, and see the real-world value of the habits we build in class.
Trishan School of Music
