Since 1918, we have stayed true to the classical teachings of our lineage, helping thousands find balance, health, and purpose. This is yoga, the way it was meant to be lived.

Did you know the world's first yoga museum is right here at The Yoga Institute in Mumbai? Inaugurated in 1987, it takes you on a journey through yoga's ancient roots and the life of our founder, Shri Yogendraji.

This figurine honors our founder, Shri Yogendra Ji (1897-1989). He was a pioneer who took yoga to the Western world in 1920 and championed a scientific approach to its practice.

This figurine represents Smt. Sitadevi Ji (1912-2008), affectionately known as Mother. She challenged the notion that yoga was only for men and authored the first book on yoga for women.

We honor Dr. Jayadeva Yogendra (1929-2018), a true Yogi who continued our legacy with deep wisdom and practical solutions. His teachings continue to guide seekers worldwide.

This figurine represents me, Dr. Hansaji Yogendra. I am humbled to carry forward this 100-year legacy, sharing the wisdom of balanced living with millions across the globe.

On Guru Purnima, we honor our entire lineage of Gurus. This unbroken chain of wisdom ensures that the teachings you receive are authentic, profound, and timeless.

We pay tribute to our legendary founder, Shri Yogendra Ji. On his 36th death anniversary, we honor his extraordinary contribution of bringing yoga from the domain of ascetics to common households.

About A Legacy of Over 100 Years

Stepping into The Yoga Institute isn't just about signing up for a class. It is about understanding that yoga is a 100-year-old science, not a modern-day trend. When you learn here, you are following the lineage of Shri Yogendraji, who made classical yoga accessible for the common householder. We focus on the 'how' and 'why' of your practice, ensuring that the habits you build here stay with you long after the mat is rolled away.
