About For Parents: Nurturing a Young Writer
Most parents tell me they worry about screen time or whether their child can articulate their thoughts clearly. In our sessions, we move past 'good English' and focus on the mechanics of thinking: how to map out ideas, create characters, and structure narratives. This is about giving your child the tools to say exactly what they mean, whether they are writing a story or an essay.
Writing is a skill, not a talent, and it is something any child can learn with the right guidance. My approach to creative writing is focused on fun and experimentation rather than strict rules or perfection. When we remove the fear of making mistakes, children become much more willing to explore their own voice.
How We Structure Our Sessions
My classes for kids (ages 7-15) and teens are built around small group interactions to ensure every student gets time to speak and share. We use practical exercises like:
- Sprint Writing: Quick prompts to get ideas flowing without overthinking.
- Show, Don't Tell: Teaching students to use descriptive language instead of stating facts.
- Structuring Stories: Learning to plot twists and develop character arcs.
- Peer Review: Constructive feedback in a safe, judgment-free zone.

Classes are held online via Zoom, which allows for a flexible and comfortable learning environment. If you are in the Delhi NCR region, I also offer in-person sessions in Gurgaon.
