Watching kids light up while reviewing their favorite stories is the highlight of my sessions. It is more than just reading; it is about building the confidence to analyze, critique, and express what they truly feel.

Here is 10-year-old Prisha reviewing a book of awesome facts for Harry Potter fans. My creative writing classes help children develop verbal communication skills and boost their confidence.

Vyan is a big fan of dinosaurs, and here he is reviewing 'My Visit to the Dinosaurs'. Book reviews help children learn to critically assess content and share their opinions clearly.

Here’s a book review from 9-year-old Nivaan on a biography of Sachin Tendulkar. It's so important for children to learn how to form and present their own point of view on what they read.

Watch 9-year-old Ayansh give his review of Sudha Murty's 'How the Mango Got Its Magic'. It's wonderful to see young readers analyze a story and recommend it to their peers.

Here is 9-year-old Viaan reviewing '365 Unsolved Mysteries'. He does a great job of highlighting what makes the book so interesting, from jumping dogs to peculiar space phenomena.

About Reviews from My Little Readers

These videos aren't rehearsed scripts. During my sessions, we focus on helping children break down what they've read—not just summarizing, but explaining why a character choice worked or why a fact caught their attention. It is a confidence booster that stays with them long after the book is closed, and it is amazing to watch that spark happen.

When a child reviews a book, they aren't just reciting a plot. They are practicing critical thinking.

Why I encourage book reviews

  • Active Engagement: Moving from passive reading to active analysis helps kids process information better.
  • Vocabulary Growth: Articulating their opinions helps them find new words to express complex emotions or facts.
  • Confidence Building: Standing in front of others to share a perspective is a life skill. It helps shy kids find their voice.

How we make it fun

In my creative writing workshops, we don't treat reviews like homework. We talk about the characters as if they are friends. We debate why a certain story ending felt right or wrong. Whether it's a gripping mystery or an inspiring biography, I encourage them to treat the book like a conversation starter.

If you're wondering how to get your child to read more—or just write better—starting with a review of their favorite book is a great first step. They learn to structure their thoughts, organize their arguments, and present them clearly. 'Bahut time lagega' (It will take time), but seeing them take ownership of their own point of view is worth every minute.

I’m Ruchika, and Chronicles Room is my way of keeping the magic of reading alive. When I'm not setting up pop-up book stalls, you'll find me helping kids turn their reading into a fun conversation. Seeing them excited about books is honestly why I do this.
