Whether you are a total beginner or looking to experiment with Raku firing, I open my studio for those who want to find joy in clay. Come play, make mistakes, and build something unique.

The power of creation has no age limit. Here, a participant in my workshop rolls out a large slab of dark clay with focus and strength.

A participant in a Raku workshop carefully carves patterns into her hand-built vessel. The studio provides a space for everyone to explore their own creative voice.

An artist at work during a workshop, sculpting small, expressive forms. The studio wall behind her is covered with inspirational test tiles and plates.

A student intently works on a slab-built piece, pressing textures into the clay. My workshops cover a range of hand-building and sculpting techniques.

A whimsical sculpture of a figure playing a flute, created by a participant on the first day of a Raku workshop.

A black and white photo of me holding a small, mouse-like sculpture made by a student during a workshop. It's wonderful to see what people create.

A student learns to throw a cup on the potter's wheel. The video shows the process from shaping the pot to attaching a handle and refining the details.

This video shows a student using the coiling technique to build a large vase. This ancient method allows for the creation of large, organic forms by hand.

About Workshops & Community

You do not need to know how to hold clay to start here. My workshops focus on the tactile experience, whether you are trying the wheel for the first time or learning the unpredictable magic of Raku firing. I keep sessions small because the most important part of pottery is not the final output, but the conversation between your hands and the clay.

My studio in Jona Pur, Delhi, is not a classroom. It is a space where we embrace the philosophy that 'Artist ka matlab hai galti karna' (being an artist means making mistakes). When you join a session, you are not just following a recipe; you are engaging with materials that have a mind of their own.

We explore several techniques:

  • Wheel Throwing: Finding the center and letting the clay rise.
  • Hand-building and Slab Work: Building organic, sculptural shapes that hold character.
  • Raku Firing: This is where we play with fire. It is an intense, collaborative process where we pull red-hot pieces from the kiln to see how smoke and heat create unique patterns.

These workshops are for anyone who wants to slow down. I have had participants who have never touched clay and experienced artists looking for a new medium. All materials are included, and you walk home with what you create. If you have been looking for a sign to get your hands dirty, this is it.

I am Suvajit. I have spent years learning the language of clay, from Kolkata to Santiniketan, and now in my Delhi studio. I believe that if you are not making mistakes, you are not really creating, so we keep things relaxed and joy-filled here.
