Pottery Workshops and Creative Classes in Delhi NCR
Welcome to my studio. Here, we slow down, get messy, and find stories in clay. Whether you are a total beginner or an old soul looking for a quiet hobby, join me for a session and create something uniquely yours.
This is my happy place, at the wheel, shaping clay. In my workshops, you'll learn how to center the clay and feel it transform in your hands. It’s a lesson in focus and living in the moment.
There is nothing more joyful than watching kids discover pottery. Our 'Play with Clay' sessions are all about getting messy, unleashing creativity, and making memories. Look at those happy, clay-covered hands!
Sgraffito is one of my favorite techniques, where we carve designs into the clay's surface. This video shows the satisfying process of revealing the pattern underneath. It's a way to etch your own story onto your piece.
This piece, "Broken But...", captures the heart of my philosophy. In pottery, as in life, things break. We learn to embrace these imperfections, seeing the beauty in them rather than flaws.
From flat slabs of clay to a whimsical house sculpture, this is what you can create in a hand-building workshop. It’s amazing to see an idea come to life, and the smile at the end says it all.
Trimming gives a piece its finished foot, but sometimes you get lost in the process and go a little too far. It happens! We call it a learning moment, and it’s a reminder not to take things too seriously.
A quick hello from me, Malvika. I love bringing elements of nature into my work and sharing the constant learning process that is pottery. I'm excited to share this journey with you at a workshop.
About Featured
When I invite you to my studio, I am not just teaching you to spin clay. I am sharing the quiet meditation I found in this craft. Whether you are trying to center clay on the wheel for the first time or carving a story into a slab with Sgraffito, the goal is simple. We slow down, get messy, and maybe, just like me, you will find a little bit of peace in the imperfections.
My workshops are less about technical perfection and more about the connection you build with the clay. Pottery, for me, is like a form of meditation, and I want to help you find that same stillness.
The Workshop Experience
I run small, intimate batches, usually between 6 to 10 people. This isn't a factory-line process where you are rushed through steps. We spend time on the basics, whether that is learning the rhythm of the wheel or using hand-building techniques like pinching and coiling to create organic shapes.
- Wheel Throwing: We learn to center the clay, open mounds, and pull walls. It is a process of focus and, yes, a few wonky bowls. We call that 'happy accidents' and keep moving.
- Hand-Building & Sgraffito: If the wheel is not for you, we explore slab-building to create vases, planters, or figurines. I love sharing the Sgraffito technique, where you carve designs into layered slips to reveal what lies beneath—much like peeling back memories.
- Kids' Sessions: I host 'Play with Clay' sessions for children aged 5-12. Seeing their creativity explode without the pressure of making a 'perfect' piece is the absolute best part of my day.
After the Session
Pottery is a slow process, and the kiln is the final arbiter of magic. After you leave, I personally handle the drying, glazing, and firing process. You get to walk away with your own 'jigar ka tukda'—the piece of your heart you created—usually ready for pickup in about 3-4 weeks. If you are looking for a weekend escape from the Delhi hustle, come by. We will chat, maybe get a bit philosophical, and make something real.
